Spring is hiring a

Digital Designer

New York, United States

Spring is on a mission to change the way people shop. With thousands of brands already on board, we’re in a unique position to connect consumers with brands they love, alongside ones they have yet to discover. Our vision at Spring is to become your personal, trusted shopping concierge who you can turn to daily for recommendations and inspiration. We’re not constrained by challenges that traditional online retailers face, so we’re delivering a shopping experience that puts our customers first.

Spring’s Creative & Marketing Department is responsible for spreading our value proposition to potential customers, brands, and partnerships, retaining existing customers and brands, and driving sales and engagement. Specifically, the Creative Team is focused on taking Spring’s story and messaging and disseminating this to our varied (and growing!) customer base. We’re at a very exciting stage where we are starting to really define our brand and explore where it can go. This is a great creative opportunity to contribute to that vision and join a small and collaborative team that is actively developing a distinct aesthetic and voice for the brand.

We are looking for creative and motivated Digital Designers to create compelling email experiences that contribute to Spring’s editorial roadmap. This designer will play a key role in supporting the Creative team on a number of different Marketing initiatives. While the role will focus on email design (and candidates must demonstrate interest and experience in this area), the role will also offer exposure to other content and digital marketing projects.

Email is a powerful vehicle for connecting with our customers: it serves not only as a way to introduce new customers to Spring, it also helps customers connect with us on a personal level. Our emails need to be bold, meaningful, eye-catching, and incite customers to stop what they are doing and go directly to their Spring app. In addition to delighting our customers, email also drives a significant amount of our monthly GMV.

This is a role where your work has measurable impact on Spring’s bottomline.

As a Digital Designer you will:

  • Ideate, develop, and execute digital and print creative across app, web, email, affiliate advertising, and social
  • Work in close partnership with other members of the Marketing Team including our Creative Director, Visual Merchandisers, Copywriters, and Marketing Managers
  • Participate in the content strategy brainstorming process. This process is collaborative and includes Copywriting, Art Direction, and Creative Direction
  • Evaluate performance of the emails you are designing. If last week’s promotion email caused a 5x increase in traffic and yesterday’s email didn’t cause any increase, why do you think this happened? What can you learn from this?
  • Remain current and up to date in the graphic/digital design industry, able to identify new techniques and trends

While this role will focus on digital design as a whole, there's an opportunity to focus specifically within email design as well.

What you need to have:

  • 3-4 years digital design. Bonus points if a portion of that experience is in fashion, e-commerce, or retail brands
  • Prior experience within email design, preferred
  • Strong typography skills and extensive experience with image layout
  • An eye for (and opinions on) editorial, advertising, and photography trends that are relevant to the email channel
  • Knowledge of design systems. You've worked in both desktop and mobile, understand where to place CTAs, what specs to use, and just know what makes an email great.
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator).
  • Strong communication, analytical, and deductive skills.
  • Well-organized and detail-oriented (this is a design role after all)
  • Solid time management skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Team player and creative problem solver.

Spring is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
