ABOUT THE ROLE
Backstage.com seeks an experienced and savvy digital editor who will have ownership of the online advice vertical, as well as optimizing editorial product on all digital channels. The candidate will be in charge of ensuring that the content we produce at Backstage reaches the largest audience possible of aspiring performers, driving consideration for Backstage premium membership. You will have the opportunity to hire, assign, and edit content from staff writers, freelancers and a wide variety of industry professionals in the entertainment business.
You will be responsible for creating engaging content with the goal of driving the most qualified readers to Backstage.com via social channels, email, and organic search. This is an exciting opportunity for an editor who loves content strategy, managing a freelance network, and leveraging analytics. This position reports to the Digital Director at Backstage.
The ideal candidate should have at least three years of experience creating, packaging, and optimizing content for the web, including social networks, search engines, email newsletters, and other major traffic acquisition channels. You should have at least five years of writing and editing experience and be comfortable editing non-professional writers and guiding them to a final draft. You should also be willing to jump in during busy times to contribute an article or two of your own, and take great pride in overseeing articles from pitch to post.
