About the role

Looking to take on a bigger challenge?  Help Metromile win at scale in one of the most competitive categories in paid search and display.  We are seeking a cutting-edge paid search and display owner, who is eager to put their solid marketing skill-set together with big data and a strong team to win in this channel.

As Metromile’s Paid Search Marketing Manager, you’ll own strategy and day-to-day execution of this key channel.  More than just driving growth and managing CPA, you’ll work to solve big, hard and interesting problems around building a strategy that scales, putting massive amounts of data to good use, and creating and managing an account structure than can handle 50 individual state insurance markets (each of which is priced and regulated differently).

You will:

  • Own the roadmap, strategy and execution of our paid search and display marketing channel (Brand and Generic), directing the spend of a meaningful budget across Google, Bing and related properties.  Drive continued growth and increasing efficiency in the paid search channel.
  • Leverage internal and third party technology to scale this channel at a high ROI.  Build an account structure and tools that enable Metromile to effectively manage distinct campaigns in each (separately regulated and priced) state market.
  • Analyze and report on key metrics, and deliver cut-through insights.  Partner with Analytics and Data Sciences teams to best leverage data, including creation of bidding algorithms, day-parting strategies, keyword expansion and optimization, and other value-added advanced strategies.
  • Develop, test and optimize high-performing ad assets.  Partner closely with Creative and Legal teams to set and execute on creative strategy for these channels.
  • Innovate!  Create and own a plan to smartly test and experiment.  Conceive of and execute high payoff initiatives, ensure that testing inventory is maximized and foster team learnings.
  • Manage relationships with Google and Bing account reps.  
  • Provide regular reporting and forecasts on performance and spending.

About you:

  • Passionate about search engine marketing.  You love being hands-on with the tools, devour industry news and thought pieces, and have a bold vision for new opportunities in the space.
  • At least five years of experience managing multi-million dollar paid search and display advertising campaigns
  • Insurance or financial services experience is a plus, but we also welcome the insights that you can bring from other industries
  • Proven ability to strategize and execute at scale
  • Deep understanding of data with a track-record of using data to produce actionable insights and automation strategies
  • Skilled with analytical and BI tools  
  • Proficient in SQL
