So, what’s the role?

As Director of Automation Engineering, you'll be tasked as being the lead in developing and maintaining the robust front end applications that drive efficiency and automation at Kin. At Kin, we combine various APIs and data sets to build applications that are utilized throughout the customer’s journey to drive better decision making, reduce costs, and improve the customer experience. We utilize sophisticated low-code tools in order to build internal and external front end applications. In your role, you will serve as the subject matter expert within the organization as it relates to APIs, Javascript, and full stack engineering and will have an opportunity to work on building complex internal and external applications while collaborating with peers in Data, Dev, Product, QA, and other cross-functional teams. 

A day in the life could include: 

  • Leading the management and development of the Automation team
  • Building and integrating fully comprehensive front end applications utilizing low-code application builders
  • Investigating and understanding business stakeholder problems and devising scalable solutions
  • Interacting with various third party APIs to centralize data capture and data interaction
  • Defining full-stack Architecture, including how our third party tools interact
  • Writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code in Javascript, Ruby or SQL
  • Leading/attending daily stands and weekly retros
  • Collaborating with Design, Product, and other developers to implement new features
  • Helping to align our third party applications to our internal code base (in Ruby)

I’ve got the skills… but do I have the necessary ones?

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
  • Experience in prioritization and quantifying business value
  • Ability to communicate to senior leadership
  • Basic understanding of technology stacks
  • Experience in Retool a plus
  • Experience managing and mentoring junior engineers
  • Comfortable in a startup environment – we’re fast-paced, self-motivated, and determined to change the industry
  • A fast learner, ready to bring previous knowledge to this position and continue developing along the way
