The Corporate and Business Development function at Realtor.com is central to the firm’s growth strategy and works closely with the executive leadership team and senior operating executives across the organization to identify, evaluate, and execute mergers and acquisitions, and other inorganic growth strategies. 

As a Director of Corporate Development, you will support the VP of Corporate and Business Development in facilitating acquisitions and corporate investments and will often act as the “Deal Lead” for all elements of the transaction lifecycle. 

What you’ll do:

  • Support all aspects of the deal process, including sourcing, qualification, financial modeling, due diligence, investment recommendations and related presentations, deal negotiations and closing & integration activities

  • Engage with internal business leaders to evaluate and develop theses and lists of potential targets that align with realtor.com® | Homes for Sale, Apartments & Houses for Rent’s strategy

  • Lead the due diligence process, including developing a deep understanding of materials provided during diligence

  • Lead and coordinate a cross-functional deal team within realtor.com® | Homes for Sale, Apartments & Houses for Rent as well as serve as a point of contact to target company management and third-party advisors

  • Create in-depth investment memorandums to present to executive leaders and the Board of Directors

  • Monitor industry activities and develop an in-depth understanding of the real estate technology market, including the landscape of real estate technology vendors, startups and venture investors

  • Support strategic analysis by performing ad-hoc analyses, including new business development proposals, and evaluation of buy/build/partner opportunities

 

What you’ll bring: 

  • 10+ years' experience in M&A experience gained in Corporate Development, Private Equity or Investment Banking with a strong track record of leading successfully completed deals, preferred. Prior corporate development experience with consumer internet/marketplace sector is a plus.

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance or related field; MBA is a plus

  • Experience handling complex projects across teams and third-party advisors and the ability to lead/support a deal process from initial screening of the opportunity to close of a transaction

  • Rigorous quantitative skills including experience with modeling, analysis and valuation

  • Strong communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent interpersonal qualities including a positive attitude; desire to learn new things; judgment and discretion in matters of significance
