Director, Health Coaching

Our ideal candidate is a creative, passionate, and experienced professional who is interested in helping us grow and mentor a world-class health coach team. As the Director of Health Coaching, you will make sure that our health coaches have the tools, training, and support they need to deliver the highest impact and highest quality health coach engagement experience for our participants. You’ll also drive the definition of what ‘great performance’ looks like for health coaching in the digital world. You’ll look for ways to increase efficiency, deepen connections, and share learning. Put simply, your job is to develop a new generation of health coaches who use conventional practices as a starting point and from there, develop mastery in the use of modern technologies to achieve a level of effectiveness and efficiency that would make human health coaching available and accessible to everyone who needs it.

The Director, Health Coaching–based in San Francisco, will report to the Senior Vice President of Operations.

Your Impact:

  • Hire and onboard health coaches to meet business demand
  • Design and develop the appropriate management structure for the health coaching organization
  • Work closely with health coaches, health coach managers to set goals, define best practices, and sustain an ongoing learning environment
  • Develop strong partnership with the Clinical Innovation team to implement health coaching protocols and medical escalation procedures
  • Develop strong partnership with the Clinical Innovation, Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to develop new and innovative health coaching tools to achieve scale and improve quality, including the execution of structured learning experiments whenever appropriate
  • Implement and drive strong adoption of technology- and data-enabled practices by health coaches and health coach managers
  • Develop strong partnership with People Operations and other pertinent stakeholders across the company to design and implement a performance management program for health coaches
  • Partner with Information Technology to implement a reliable modern technology infrastructure for a distributed health coaching team
  • Partner with Ops Strategy lead to implement rigorous planning, monitoring, and analytical processes
  • Drive the achievement of compelling health coaching economics
  • Drive the creation of a positive and cohesive culture for a distributed health coaching team

You’ll be successful in this role if you have:

  • Ability to think strategically, execute effectively, and deliver high quality work, often against tight deadlines
  • Hands-on or equivalent experience in health coaching and/or counseling
  • Successful experience hiring, onboarding, leading, managing, and inspiring a large distributed team across the US
  • Leadership presence to drive alignment across product, engineering, data science, and health coaching operations to achieve scaling innovations for health coaching
  • Proven track record in using technology to achieve scale, with emphasis in driving change and adoption of new system functions and features by a large group of users
  • Skilled communication, written and verbal, in both professional and casual forms
  • Consistent brand as a phenomenal team player who makes public commitments and delivers results with grace
