Acorns is seeking a Director of Business Development – Brand Partnerships to build relationships with brands to help them drive growth under the context of financial wellness.

This position partners directly with the Sr. Director of Business Development to execute and deliver on internal and external marketing and business development initiatives. Within this role, you will help define long-term strategic goals, build customer and partner relationships, identify business opportunities, close high-volume business, and maintain knowledge of current marketing conditions.

This is an individual contributor role and you will beat revenue targets through the development, advancement, and closure of brand partnerships and execution of new businesses and expansion of existing business. 

This role has the option to be remote or based in our Irvine, CA or New York, NY offices.

Job Requirements: 

  • Support the Sr. Director of Business Development as the lead resource regarding brand partnership activities, as well as operational and management projects.
  • Unlock business from new and existing brand partners; Build relationships with key partners and identify opportunities to drive volume growth across a variety of verticals.
  • Work with marketing leadership to develop and implement marketing goals, initiatives, and strategies to support brand partnerships.
  • Own brand partnership relationship end-to-end, from initial scoping, to negotiations, and launch
  • Conducts research on clients/prospects, industries, competitors, organizations and conferences; Create RFPs/proposals, market analyses, marketing/sponsorship opportunities and other business development efforts to drive volume.
  • Read industry, legal, and business publications to remain aware of trends that may impact the practice and to identify promotional opportunities. 
  • Work cross-functionally with product team to scope and drive partner-driven product initiatives that will help expand volume.
  • Ensure partner and campaign compliance in partnership with Securities team
  • Handles other ad hoc projects and reporting as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • BA/BS from top-tier university
  • 10+ years of experience in sales management or sales development management
  • Experience working with or for companies that focus on partnering with brands to help drive growth and / or loyalty solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and scale processes and strategies to drive new revenue for business
  • Proven track record of increasing year over year revenue
  • Strong presentation, sales, and negotiation skills; ability to maintain momentum and drive to close high value deals
  • Proven ability to sell into high-level leadership (including C-level) and to navigate potential customer organizations to connect with the business owner/decision maker
  • Proven track record of overachievement of quota expectations
  • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
