Thrive Market is hiring a

Director of Continuous Improvement

Los Angeles, United States
We’re looking for a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our Operations team in our Marina Del Rey, CA headquarters.  Thrive Market currently has two fulfillment centers - one in Indiana and one in Nevada.  The role of the Continuous Improvement Engineer will span operations in all three locations and will require significant travel (up to 40% of the time.)  This candidate will direct projects across all departments to create a disciplined approach in continuously improving core processes, proactively identifying and eliminating efficiency gaps.  Are we receiving inventory efficiently?  Could we get boxes out the door quicker with a different floor plan?  We're a young company and are still nimble with change, so the opportunity for impact is tremendous. The right person for the job is an engineer at heart but also possesses dynamic leadership skills; you listen to the folks on the ground since they are closest to the work, and use their feedback in the improvement process.  The key to success is harnessing the power of engaged employees throughout the continuous improvement process.

  • Proactively identify and eliminate efficiency gaps through the efforts and projects of the Continuous Improvement team and resources
  • Engage all associates in the continuous improvement process: gather input from those working on the ground and leverage that feedback in new processes
  • Influence business units to identify, prioritize, and deploy process improvement resources across multiple initiatives
  • Drive operational redesign and process standardization
  • Initiate and lead the involvement of internal cross-functional teams as appropriate in CI efforts
  • Lead and prioritize cost-reduction efforts through data analysis
  • Track progress against operational targets and budget
  • Support activities to improve employee safety and quality
  • Work with facilities to develop financial justification for productivity initiatives
  • Hired and lead a team that solves problems and completes projects in a changing and fast-paced dynamic environment

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in business or engineering
  • 10+ years experience in management consulting and/or project management and problem-solving
  • Black Belt Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Demonstrated operational and strategic planning skills to solve complex problems through policy, business process improvements, technology integration, and enterprise architecture development
  • Strong experience and demonstrated successes in continuous improvement projects resulting in cost savings and bottom line profitability
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Background in people management
