Director of Software Engineering - Shared Services

The Job

Our engineering team solves tough problems and invents new ways to provide voice identity and security solutions using big data and audio science in the cloud.  We are looking for a senior engineering manager to to help define, design, lead and manage the creation services used by our product engineering groups.  We have technically challenging problems to be solved so we need a leader who can execute our strategy on a daily basis by inspiring and growing a high caliber engineering team.

Responsibilities:

  • Foster a focus on adding value for our internal customers among your engineering teams
  • Coordinate dependencies and timelines among Shared Services teams and with the Fraud and Authentication teams
  • Develop, mentor and coach a diverse team to continue to deliver high quality, innovative services in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Lead by example, care for your team and establish credibility with the quality of your and your team’s technical execution
  • Continuous improvement in process and implementing controls to increase efficiency and productivity of engineering practices
  • Implement and measure engineering best practices and metrics
  • Improve the team’s technical ability, utilization, and overall efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with other organizations to foster an environment of teamwork throughout Pindrop

Education and Experience:

  • Strong managerial skills with track record of growing and developing high performing teams
  • BS in CS or EE. Masters in an engineering discipline preferred
  • 5+ years as a manager of software engineering teams
  • Prior experience in a start up environment strongly desired
  • Proven track record of high quality and timely product delivery
  • Experience developing and presenting information to executive-level audiences
  • Lean software development methodologies knowledge helpful
  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous, fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Strong communication skills, both inward and outward
  • Linux experience preferred
  • Python and Go experience preferred
  • Knowledge of containers and container orchestration systems (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Software architecture and patterns, including micro-services and RESTful API design
  • Strong collaboration skills with disciplines across Product Management and Customer Success
