Director of Software Engineering - Telephony

The Job

Our engineering team solves tough problems and invents new ways to battle fraud using big data and audio science in the cloud.  We are looking for a Director of Software Engineering on the Engineering team to help define, design, lead and manage the creation of our bleeding edge products.  We have technically challenging problems to be solved and must demonstrate thought leadership in the security space, so we need a leader who can execute our strategy on a daily basis by inspiring and growing a high caliber software engineering team.


  • Develop, mentor and coach a diverse team to continue to deliver high-quality, innovative products in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
  • Lead by example, care for your team and establish credibility with the quality of your and your team's technical execution
  • Continuous improvement in process and implementing controls to increase efficiency and productivity of engineering practices
  • Implement and measure engineering best practices and metrics
  • Improve the team’s technical ability, utilization, and overall efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with other organizations to foster an environment of teamwork throughout Pindrop
  • Responsible for evolving the architecture of the solution and developing a comprehensive technical implementation plan.

Education and Experience

  • BS in CS or EE. Masters in an engineering discipline preferred
  • 5+ years as a technical manager or director of software engineering in the Telecom domain 
  • Linux experience a must
  • Preferred self-starter ideally with some startup experience with a commercial software company
  • Experience engineering distributed cloud-based solution
  • Telecom domain knowledge (SIP, VOIP, IP, SS7 etc…)
  • Python and C++ experience preferred
  • Software architecture and patterns, including Software as a Service and API development
  • Strong collaboration skills with disciplines like Test Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Success
  • Building out engineering systems including project management, source control, and quality
  • Proven track record of successful and timely product delivery, and of driving technical innovation
  • Experience developing and presenting information to executive-level audiences
  • Scrum/Agile methodologies knowledge helpful
  • Experience with Cloud-based solutions preferred
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Managerial skills and ability to grow people to their true potential
  • Strong communication skills, both inward and outward
