POSITION SUMMARY
As a Director, Strategic Projects & Platform Engagement in the Global Venture Lab, dedicated to the Managing Director, Head of Global Venture Lab (GVL), based in the New York City Metropolitan Area, you will report directly to the Head of GVL and provide platform support, strategic thought partnership, and execution for new and existing initiatives for the platform. In this role, you will focus on developing and leveraging networks of top functional specialists to drive strategic insights, partnerships, and talent to Hines’ Global Venture Lab portfolio of ventures bought, built, invested, or partnered.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director, Strategic Projects & Platform Engagement’s responsibilities will encompass the following:
- Support the Head of GVL in driving disruptive innovation at the firm and within the Global Venture Lab portfolio, in close coordination with the Head, Global ESG and CEO of our Global Venture Lab & ESG functions (CEO of EXP by Hines)
- Serve as mission control for the portfolio platform within Hines: source of truth on platform’s performance, activities, and goals and, internal coordination and partnerships within the enterprise
- Work cross-functionally with our partnerships & investments and venture studio teams within the GVL to develop and activate plans that accelerate growth and foster connectivity with other business units at Hines as well as external partners or investors
- Build relationships and identify opportunities to proactively source talent and generate new business and corporate development opportunities
- Organize events and campaigns to identify partners, raise money, and increase awareness of the portfolio’s work, goals, and financial needs
- Create visibility opportunities and tell the platform’s story to set it apart from competitors with the assistance of Hines’ Marketing & Communications team
- Oversee the portfolio’s overall marketing strategy with the input of Head of GVL
- Represent Global Venture Lab portfolio and report on fundraising and business activities to internal governance committees, new venture boards, and external partners and investors
- Assist in managing stakeholders within the portfolio, providing mentorship, coaching, and one-on-one strategic work
- Contribute to strategic briefings on key milestones and meetings in coordination with the Head of GVL
- Project manage for the portfolio, either with the Head of GVL or other leaders of the function
- Serve as an overarching project manager of complex, multi-stakeholder projects, including with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders
- Track progress against project timelines, and meet regularly with the function Head, leadership of the business unit EXP in which GVL sits, and other key leadership, to provide status updates and flag issues that may impede the ability to deliver against timelines
- Engage in healthy and constructive discussion to help push concepts forward
- Ensure platform stays focused on areas of highest priorities
- Connect dots across the organization of function and more broadly to other parts of Hines
- In addition to your primary duties within the function, also support the Head of GVL in developing standardized processes and procedures across specific projects
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required
- Eight or more years of prior related work experience; previous experience in finance, investment banking, private equity, VC, or real estate function preferred
- Open to background from any industry or sector
- Previous venture experience, knowledge of startups, mentoring, venture boards, and/or fundraising helpful
- Can-do, problem solver attitude
- Ability to move in a very fast and ambiguous environment
- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills

SALARY
$160,000 - $175,000
