Job Description: 

We are looking to hire a talented individual to lead a new process of credit reporting individual owners (personal guarantors) of business loans.  The position may be either in our Denver, CO, Arlington, VA, or New York, NY offices. We are seeking a highly motivated, self-starter who enjoys working in a dynamic, fast-paced and collaborative environment. In this challenging position, you will report to our Director of Customer Service, and work closely with members of the risk team, the customer service team, the collections team, the operations team, the legal department and other departments as needed. Simply put, we are seeking a motivated and experienced individual to help a rapidly growing, newly public, company execute its business plan.

As a Dispute and Credit Reporting Lead at OnDeck, you will:

Work closely with various departments in formulating, developing and executing a process consistent with the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”) to report on behalf of OnDeck’s wholly-owned subsidiary collection agency to the three credit reporting agencies (“CRAs”) delinquent loans against business owners’ (i.e., personal guarantors’) credit profiles.

Develop policies, procedures and processes consistent with the FCRA to report such loans, including, but not limited to, leading and being responsible for the following processes:

  • Lettering individuals of intended reporting,
  • Building the appropriate technological processes to report to the CRAs,
  • Implementing the actual processes of account selection for reporting and reporting itself,
  • Administering dispute management consistent with the FCRA (e.g., direct disputes, indirect disputes, e-oscar disputes),
  • Resolving exception reports consistent with the FCRA,
  • Implementing quality assurance protocols to assure that loans are accurately identified for reporting, loans are accurately reported, disputes and exceptions reports are properly handled, and that such other quality assurance protocols are effectuated as appropriate,
  • Performing such other responsibilities as appropriate to establish and manage a capable and legally-compliant consumer reporting platform consistent with the FCRA.
  • Work in other matters as assigned.

 Necessary qualifications for success:

  • You have at least 2 years of relevant experience overseeing the reporting of tradelines to the CRAs.
  • You have a deep understanding of the FCRA, Metro 2 guidelines, as well as recent consent orders entered into by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (“CFPB”) which elucidate the CFPB’s detailed expectations relative to compliant FCRA reporting practices.
  • You have experience working with the CRAs in all facets of consumer reporting.
  • You are very capable in Microsoft Excel.
  • You have an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • You are self-assured and upbeat with a dynamic personality and can inspire the confidence of departmental colleagues and all other departments of the company.
  • You have excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • You effectively prioritize and handle multiple matters.
  • You have the ability and dream to work both collaboratively and autonomously.
  • Willingness to travel to OnDeck’s other two offices as needed.
