About CST

CST Ethiopia represents the overseas development and humanitarian agencies of the Catholic Church from England and Wales (CAFOD), Scotland (SCIAF), and Ireland (Trócaire) in Ethiopia. The three agencies have over 40 years’ of experience in international development and humanitarian response and are each members of worldwide networks, including Caritas Internationalis. Currently, the three agencies jointly operate a single, integrated country programme in Ethiopia through the legal entity CST Ethiopia. CST Ethiopia works in partnership with local church and non-church organisations, supporting communities in Addis Ababa, Afar, Oromia, SNNPR and Tigray regions.

The CST Ethiopia main country office based in office Addis Ababa assumes overall responsibility for implementing the CST Ethiopia country programme, which currently focuses on resilient communities (sustainable livelihoods, humanitarian preparedness & response, and women empowerment).  CST Ethiopia works with a portfolio of approximately 20 local partner organisations throughout Ethiopia.

CST Ethiopia is currently looking for a Driver /Admin. based in Country Office, Addis Ababa.  The Driver / Admin reports to the Head of Operation or the designate. The role primarily involves driving the Country Director, international guests, and visitors while also supporting the office with key administrative functions.

Key Responsibility

Driving (70%)

  • Safely drive the Country Director, international guests, and visitors for official business, ensuring punctuality and professionalism.
  • Collecting and returning guests from/to airport and or hotel
  • Transportation of staff for work-related purposes, including meeting and greeting at airport.
  • Ensure the vehicle is kept clean, maintained, and in good working order.
  • Report any mechanical issues or damage to the vehicle promptly.
  • Follow all local traffic laws and ensure the safety of passengers at all times.
  • Maintain a logbook for vehicle mileage, fuel consumption, and destinations.

Administrative Support (30%)

  • Assist in collecting quotations for procurement of goods and services as required.
  • Support in procuring small items for office use, coordinating with suppliers.
  • Handle utility payments and schedules (e.g., telecommunications, water, electricity), ensuring timely payments and services.
  • Maintain updated records of office supplies and support the office with inventory management.
  • Assist with the preparation of documents and deliveries within the city.
  • Provide general administrative support such as photocopying, filing, and handling correspondence as required.
  • Manage petty cash for minor office expenses, if required.
  • Assist in arranging meetings, including booking venues and preparing meeting materials.
  • Keeping proper records of distances travelled, refuelling and servicing for CST Ethiopia vehicles
  • General messenger duties, e.g. banking and postage.
  • Perform clerical duties and provide overall assistance in the office
  • Carrying out general duties as directed by the CST Ethiopia -CO.

Other Duties:

  • Any other assignment assigned by the Head of Operation or CMT.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma.
  • Familiarity with Addis Ababa routes and traffic conditions.
  • Basic computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Fluency in Amharic and good communication skills in English.

 

Experience

  • Valid driving license with a minimum of 5 years of total professional driving experience, including at least 2 years of related work experience with non-governmental organizations.
  • Previous experience in an administrative support role is an advantage

  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

  • A strong commitment to the work of justice and an empathy with the ethos and work of CST Ethiopia.
  • A strong commitment to, and demonstrated ability in, maintaining adherence to humanitarian principles, including impartiality and neutrality, while working in diverse geographic, cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic regions and communities.
