Editor, Publishing Platform

The Position:

The Editor of First Look Media’s as-yet-unnamed publishing platform will be responsible for working alongside the SVP/Editorial to build a prestige storytelling brand within FLM devoted to digital audio and visual storytelling with a focus on strong characters, a point of view, and a creative, independent sensibility. The Editor will assist in spearheading the creative development and managerial/logistical oversight of original and curated editorial storytelling content on both FLM-native and social media platforms. This editorial slate will include formats like video series, one-off films, podcasts, photo essays, graphic narratives and storytelling in other formats and technologies like VR and live-streaming. 

The Editor position requires an individual with substantial creative ambition and experience in developing content and managing editorial and production staffers. Applicants should be experts at shaping and creating compelling, character-driven storytelling, have a keen understanding of the digital storytelling landscape, possess a competitive but collaborative spirit, enjoy experimentation and be up-to-date on the most important and exciting work being done in film/video, publishing, art, photography and illustration.

In addition to the development and oversight of original and curated programming, the editor will be expected to take the lead in setting up editorial partnerships with other media brands, engaging in the cultivation of and outreach to high-profile collaborators, and managing more junior staffers on the platform, including the Social Media Editor and Video Curator. 

The role will report directly to the SVP/Editorial.


  • Development of prestige digital storytelling projects in any/all audio and visual formats.
  • Assistance in establishment of a strong editorial voice and sensibility.
  • Assistance in strategizing the brand’s audience development.
  • Creation and management of editorial calendar.
  • Ideating of regular editorial franchises and outreach to creators and potential partners.
  • Day-to-day oversight of the junior FLM publisher staff.
  • Relationship-building with established creators and aggressive discovery and development of creativeup-and-comers and unknowns. 

Background & Qualifications:

  • 6+ years experience working in editorial/creative in media or entertainment.
  • 4+ years experience in the digital media space.
  • Strong relationships throughout the media, arts & culture and/or entertainment industry.
  • Familiarity and experience working in digital media and the promotion/distribution of content on digital platforms/social media.
