We are looking for a passionate, hands-on EHS Coordinator to join our Global Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) team and help us enable Cruise to accomplish its mission by providing partnership, guidance, and structure that ensures the well being of our people, communities, and planet.
In this position, you will collaborate with teams across Cruise to operationalize a world-class workplace safety program in line with our company’s overall commitment to creating a safer world.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the primary point of contact for local Cruise Workers for all things related to EHS, including but not limited to addressing hazard concerns, conducting incident investigations, providing advice on safety improvements, and facilitating all locally-relevant EHS programs such as Ergonomics, Heat Stress, PPE, and more
Conduct and review audits, area inspections, risk assessments, job hazard analyses
Conduct incident investigations and develop and deliver on action plans for identified corrective actions
Provide and/or coordinate training for workers on general industrial safety, hazard recognition and control, injury prevention, environmental compliance, and related topics
Monitor, manage, and support hazardous materials operations, including chemical products and hazardous waste, in accordance with Cruise policy and local applicable regulations; duties may include conducting regular inventory audits, performing material inspections, monitoring waste accumulation and coordinating waste shipments, and responding to hazardous materials spills and incidents as required, and more
Facilitating Cruise’s onsite requirements for Occupational Health Programs including but not limited to COVID Prevention and Workplace Drug Testing.
Coordinate and facilitate emergency response training, drills, and communication
Ensure that key risks and compliance requirements are identified, escalated, and controlled
Share feedback and report metrics to Cruise on a regular basis
Monitor and manage EHS-related signage and supplies, including re-ordering and stocking
Facilitate health and safety committees and similar teams and engagement initiatives
Recruit, train, and coach EHS “liaisons” in business units to embed EHS best practices in day-to-day operations.
Travel to new markets and provide support as requested by the EHS team - up to 40% of the time.
Minimum Qualifications:
A passion for safety and desire to help deliver a safe and healthy workplace to all workers
Superior attention to detail
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Strong computer literacy skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, and email communication (Google Suite preferred)
1-3 years of experience in safety or a related field OR 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing or other safety critical environment
Associates/bachelors/masters degree or demonstrated commitment to continued education
Preferred Qualifications
Garage safety experience including fleet operations, garage equipment and machinery safety, and related topics
Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, ANSI and related regulations and standards
Knowledge of electrical safety, NFPA 70E
Proficient in hazardous materials and hazardous waste management
Experience working in a company with an active Safety Management System (SMS)
Demonstrated background in project management
Stays current with EHS industry trends, is a member of professional safety associations (ASSP, AIHA, etc.), and has a strong network of EHS professionals for best practice sharing
OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour certification
Safety Professional certification (ASP, GSP, CSP) or related safety designation
Associate/bachelor’s/master’s degree in EHS, Occupational Health, or a related field
The salary range for this position is $27 - $40/hr. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
