Electrician, Vandenberg

Overview:
• Position requires a working knowledge of electrical power systems for industrial infrastructure as well as control systems for ground support equipment. Responsible for the installation, preventative maintenance, and/or trouble shooting of new/existing equipment and electrical power systems.

Responsibilities:
• Installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical systems, devices, equipment and components
• Installation, repair, and maintenance of motor control centers, motor circuits, overloads, and disconnects
• Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of generators, automatic transfer switches, and surge protection devices
• Install, maintain, and repair electrical and electronic components of machinery and equipment, including hydraulic and pneumatic devices
• Installation of grounding and lightning protection systems
• Perform work from instructions using blueprints, wiring diagrams, and schematics
• Install electrical components according to current NEC code
• Installation and troubleshooting of commercial lighting, receptacles, panels, circuits, and controls.
• Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment

Basic Qualifications:
• Statewide Certification as a Journeyman Electrician in California
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Journeyman Electrician working on industrial projects
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Excellent working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
• Experience as a lead electrician
• Ability to install:
o Rigid steel conduits up to 4”
o Switchgears, switchboards, panelboards, and motor control centers
o Exterior and interior lighting
o Uninterruptible power supply (UPS) units
o Standby and emergency generators
o Automatic transfer switches
o Power monitoring hardware and software
o Data/phone distribution and wiring
o Building and site grounding systems
• Ability to use a variety of electrician’s hand tools including sawzalsl, hydraulic conduit benders, conduit threaders, clamp on current meters, wire tuggers, jig saws, hydraulic punches, hand punches, hack saw, multimeters, pade lug crimpers, as well as other measuring and testing instruments
• Basic working knowledge of control circuits, ladder logic, PLC’s, and other control devices
• Experience troubleshooting Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and Industrial Pumps
• Working knowledge of power coordination and Arc Flash
• Good team-working skills
• Able to work on multiple tasks concurrently
• High level of self-motivation, with the ability to work under minimal supervision
• Good organizational skills
• Able to prioritize and schedule workload
• Excellent communication skills
Additional Requirements:
• General physical fitness is required for some work areas, flight hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is required, also the ability to lift heavy objects is required in this position >50lbs unassisted
• Ability to perform job duties that require standing, kneeling, crouching, twisting upper body, working in cramped positions in small openings and climbing hand over hand.
• Ability to work at elevated heights
• Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments – heat, cold, rain
• Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, and noise
• Must be available to work overtime and weekends when needed
