Engineering Manager | Education

The Education team at Red Ventures is looking for a highly technical, results-oriented, and innovative Engineering Manager to lead an engineering team responsible for data and application development. We are looking for a collaborative leader who will understand our people, business, technology, and customer needs. 

This individual will help drive our culture of diversity, empowerment, ownership, and accountability and to develop our team technically and professionally. They will also identify and successfully implement improvements in our engineering processes, tools, pipelines, and architecture to enable us to deliver on our key initiatives.

What You'll Do:

• Manage a team of software and data engineers
• Collaborate with scrum masters, product owners, and leadership to build world-class solutions powering one of the largest online marketplaces for adult learners
• Position the engineering team for success through training, mentorship, and leadership
• Work closely with the engineers to improve process and code quality
• Liaise with the director and other senior leadership to establish and to maintain priorities in a dynamic environment

What We're Looking For:

• Familiarity with marketing, web, and advertising technologies like Google Analytics, Optimizely, Iterable, Google Tag Manager, Salesforce, etc. 
• Familiarity with Redshift, PostgreSQL, or BigQuery
• Data Warehousing and ETL expertise
• Working knowledge of Business Intelligence and Data Visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker
• Experience with Python and Command Line tools
• Experience managing an engineering team within an agile environment
• Hands-on knowledge of databases, back-end architecture and technologies
• Experience in building SQL queries across large and complex relational databases
• Ability to lead and to collaborate on technical decisions
• Track record building and shipping high-quality software products and data processes
• Expertise motivating and growing team members
• Experience working with stakeholders in business, product management, and design
• Passion for building equitable, inclusive, and high-performing teams
• Insatiable curiosity: asking why we're doing x? or what do we hope to answer by doing y?
• The ability to document data and engineering concepts and diagrams with clarity, regularity, and visual appeal and to target the communication of technical concepts to their audience
• A background and very keen interest in data and its utility and beauty.

Compensation: 

• Cash Compensation Range: $130,000- $210,000
  *Note actual salary is based on geographic location, qualifications, and experience.
