At Splash, our mission is to make events easy. To deliver on this we’re building a tool that democratizes design – one that creates a seamless experience for event marketers, designers, and on-site coordinators; anyone that has a role in bringing an event to life.

Your Mission

Splash is in search of an experienced engineering managers who can help us continue to scale our engineering organization. We are looking for someone to lead our Design Tools teams to insure engineering excellence and provide mentorship to engineering team.

As an engineering manager, you’ll be taking care of the most important thing at Splash: our people. You’ll partner with the Tech Lead, Product Manager and Product Designer to drive projects aligned with our long term objectives, being able to rely on them for their areas of expertise and stay heavily focused on people and process management.

Like many other leading organizations in the tech world, Splash is a heavily distributed organization. Our HQ is in the iconic Woolworth Building in NYC, but most of us are working remotely around the USA and Spain. We had partially adopted this work style before 2020, but with last year’s events we all decided to fully embrace a remote first work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Manage up to 8 direct reports based in the EU and the USA.
  • Conduct career development discussions.
  • Deliver performance reviews.
  • Be accountable for your team’s performance and their impact.
  • Partner with recruiting to hire great talent for your team.
  • Take on engineering-wide projects designed to improve Splash Engineering.
  • Support your team on a technical level by being able to follow technical conversations and asking good questions.
  • Enable your team to succeed in the ways you identify as more valuable. For example, partnering with the Product Designer and the Product Manager, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, managing projects and influencing stakeholders to get buy-in or remove blockers.

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrate persistence, proactivity and empathy through your actions.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively in English.
  • Have managed multiple direct reports.
  • Have hired engineers.
  • Have enabled the growth or promotion of your reports.
  • Provide clear feedback to reports, peers and your managers to ensure we maintain a level of excellence.
  • Experience working on both small and large engineering initiatives as a lead or manager.
  • Expertise in Agile methodologies.

Bonus points:

  • Have managed distributed teams and remote team members.
  • Are familiar with microservice environments.
  • Have developed modern Frontend applications with React or Vue
  • Experience with rolling out management initiatives, including team process changes etc.
