Stripe is hiring an

Engineering Manager of Managers, Web Presence and Platform

Seattle, United States

Who we are

About Stripe

Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the team

The Web Presence & Platform team at Stripe is a group of interactive designers, front-end specialists, web strategists, platform engineers, and every skill set in-between. We design and build what is, for many, their first impression of Stripe. We want to make every pixel count, we want it to be enthralling, and we want to help other Stripes seamlessly benefit from our systematic work.

There are several teams under the banner of Web Presence & Platform (WPP) at Stripe: Experiences, Experimentation, Events, Tooling & Infrastructure, and more. Together, these teams focus on the craft of our web pages—UX design, frontend code, information architecture. The Tooling & Infrastructure team supports them and other partners around Stripe by ensuring there’s a fast, efficient technology platform on which to build and run these pages.

What you’ll do

We are looking for an experienced engineering leader who can shape the vision and craft of the entire WPP engineering team, and personally lead the experience team’s design engineers. This person will be both a manager of managers across multiple teams and support ICs design engineers on the experience team.

All Design Engineers in WPP take a broad approach to the UX, but each team has subtly different focus areas. Design Engineers on our Events UX pillar create immersive video streaming experiences, and intuitive UI for chatting with fellow attendees or booking schedules. Those on our Experiences pillar typically craft editorial story arcs over the course of several pages, and often create animations to help educate our prospective users. Our Experimentation pillar takes any of these as their starting point, needing to know not just how to craft new variations, but how to also ensure they are loaded quickly and measured accurately.

You’ll foster the individuals on your team, providing support to their work and acceleration to their growth. You’ll trust and empower the leaders on your team. You’ll partner with WPP’s leadership to devise and deliver on quarterly and yearly roadmaps focused on the strategic experiences we bring to our users. You’ll develop and foster a collaborative team that is excited to meet you.
