Requirements

What does a Busuu Live English Teacher do?

We’re looking for experienced, top-of-the-class language teachers who are passionate about delivering online lessons and providing high quality instruction for our Busuu Live students. As part of our in-house teaching faculty, you will be trained in the expert use of Busuu-designed lesson material in order to truly connect with our students and help them to commit to their language learning. In addition, you will also have the opportunity to work closely with our Teacher Operations and Learning Design teams to help evolve and grow our live lesson offering and thus collaborate in the fulfilment of our vision: to empower people through language!

On a day-to-day basis, your responsibilities are likely to include:

• Teaching, 20-25 hrs/week - Busuu Live Group and/or Private English lessons for both general learners (B2C) and corporate clients (B2B)
• Taking part in training and continuous professional development
• Carrying out student level assessments
• Preparation of lesson plans and materials
• Helping to train and onboard new teachers in the use of the online classroom/Busuu Live materials
• Carrying out lesson observations and peer feedback sessions
• Working closely with the teacher operations team to improve and strengthen our existing Busuu Live offering
• Being a brand ambassador - Help us to realise our vision and show our students just how Busuu’s unique combination of Live Lessons + Self-Paced Content + Community is truly the best way to help learners reach their language learning goals

What are we looking for in a Busuu Live English Language Teacher?

Required:

• Passionate, dynamic and engaged language teachers who LOVE teaching and connecting with students of diverse backgrounds, all over the world!
• Native or native-like (C2/bilingual) fluency in English
• TEFL/TESOL certification (Cambridge CELTA or equivalent)
• Substantial teaching experience in both Business and General English
• Experience teaching online, comfortable with technology
• High-speed internet connection, quiet, professional-looking working environment
• Flexibility and the ability to adapt to new tools, technologies and procedures as the business grows
• Some experience with creating content for excellent online lessons
• Being a team player and someone who genuinely enjoys engaging with both their students and fellow teachers on a consistent basis

Nice to have:

• A university degree, preferably in English/ESL, Education or Linguistics
• An advanced TEFL/TESOL certification, such as the Cambridge DELTA, and/or a Master’s Degree in one of the disciplines above
• Additional experience or certifications in Education Technologies/Instructional Design and/or extensive knowledge of online content creation/teaching resources
• Knowledge of additional languages (minimum B1 level)

We aim to have a simple and speedy hiring process and we want to make sure that we are right for you as much as the other way around. The hiring process for this role has the following steps:

2. Let’s chat - Quick chat with a member of our Teacher Operations team about your experience and the role (15 min.)
3. Test - You will be asked to complete a short live teaching demonstration for members of our Education department, based on a specific language skill/topic that will be assigned to you beforehand (30 min.)
4. Final interview (30 min.)
5. Reference check, including criminal background check
