BuzzFeed Entertainment is seeking an entertainment reporter to join our team in our New York City or Los Angeles office who will be a leading voice in entertainment news coverage, specifically that which pertains to black Hollywood. Our ideal candidate is someone who is obsessed with film and television, particularly shows and movies that star and/or are created by black actors, directors, and producers. You should be able to work extremely quickly, as our job is to both precipitate conversations and, secondarily, to react to those unfolding throughout the day.
This job is based in our NYC or LA offices, and we offer competitive compensation and a stock option program.
Break shareable entertainment news about television shows and feature films that appeal to black audiences and go beyond casting notices or press releases
Be a leading voice in industry coverage and drive the conversation about entertainment, and diversity within the industry, in innovative ways
Pitch ideas for both short news stories and larger features
Produce quality content at a fast pace and work independently to create viral content
Keep track of developments in the industry
Work with the entertainment team to offer critical insight into pop culture trends, current and past films, and television series with a focus on black audiences

An interest/experience writing about entertainment and diversity online
Overall eagerness and enthusiasm
Comfort with the fast pace of internet publishing
Strong organizational skills
Ability to think visually and write incisively
Established social media presence is a plus, particularly on Twitter
A genuine passion for film and television — you live and breathe entertainment every day and want to cover pop culture in a critical, professional way
A positive, curious, playful disposition (no haters)
Candidates should include the following:
