Equipment Technician

Vox Studios is Vox Media's in-house Studio dedicated to helping our verticals and brand partners develop, produce and edit editorial video content.  Our team is comprised of a group of designers, technicians, filmmakers, and storytellers.

Role:

Support Vox Media’s equipment room and production operations for all of Vox Media’s properties with a focus on technical expertise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with day to day Equipment Room Operations, including but not limited to;
    • Preparing equipment packages for field and studio teams
    • Inventory scheduling and asset tracking
    • Equipment cleaning, maintenance, and repair
    • Troubleshooting equipment in studio and in the field
    • Expendable tracking
  • Provide technical support for day to day studio productions as well as troubleshoot for remote teams
  • Provide deep technical insights into production equipment, including but not limited to;  digital cinema & still photography cameras, broadcast switchers, audio microphones, mixers, & consoles
  • Test field equipment upon check out and return.
  • Support an equipment maintenance schedule.
  • Assist with Studio Shipping Logistics for field productions and tent pole events.

 

Experience Desired:

2+ Years production experience in a technical setting

Camera Assistant experience preferred

Studio production and rigging experience a plus

Knowledge of the Canon EOS cinema and Sony Alpha camera line

Understanding of current color space, codecs, bit rates, compression & encoding standards
