eResearch Engagement Specialist - Content Manager - Fixed Term - Faculty of Science

The Centre for eResearch is a cross-faculty research centre, hosted within the Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland. Our role is to develop new ways to apply computer and information technology to all research disciplines. We aim to enhance the understanding of research processes and the delivery of research computing services.

We are seeking enthusiastic people, passionate about enabling research, who can communicate across researchers, service division managers, and technical teams, and work in an agile like team environment. You will contribute to and benefit from the team’s broad skill base, and likewise enjoy the challenge of working across multiple disciplines.

This is a fixed term full time agreement to undertake web content and application development activities within the ResearchHub Expansion project.  Ideally, we are looking for the successful candidate to start early October 2020 for a 12 month assignment.

About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to be part of a project team that is creating digital content and web application solutions to support discovery and navigation of research support services and information. You will contribute to development activities to better describe, connect, and communicate research support services and enable research excellence. You will develop key functional relationships with colleagues within the Centre for eResearch and others such as Digital Services, Office of Research Strategy and Integrity, Faculties and LSRIs, School of Graduate Studies, Library and Learning Services, and UniServices who provide various services to support research at the University.

Key activities for this role include:

  • Working in partnerships with stakeholders, content/service providers, and the team to support better connected University research support services and information.
  • Stocktake, update, and optimising of existing research support content and service information.
  • Creating clear and engaging new copy/content in collaboration with service providers and domain specialists.
  • Contribute to the commissioning and decommissioning of research support websites/pages and channels.
  • Contribute to documentation, user training, and outreach for new content and content systems. 

 Our ideal candidate will bring:

  • Knowledge, understanding, or experience of university research environments, ideally with some previous hands-on experience with either research or research support domains.
  • Significant digital skills and understanding of the web and design of web applications.
  • Experience or demonstrated skills with content writing, content management and publishing.
  • Excellent communication skills that can be applied across broad research related domains.
  •  Relationship and stakeholder management experience.
  • Experience or passion for areas such as education, communication, outreach, or workshop activities.
  •  Experience or knowledge of service design principles.
  • Experience or knowledge of content management systems (CMS).
