Field Application Scientist

Emulate is currently seeking a passionate and customer-centric Field Applications Scientist who will bring a scientific, technical lens to enable exceptional customer support. As a Field Applications Scientist, you will be responsible for implementing, training, onboarding, and delivering outstanding service to our customers. This is a key field-based role that brings Microphysiological Systems (MPS) to life for researchers and acts as a primary technical contact between the customer and the company, effectively delivering knowledge to customers within the assigned geographic region. You are CURIOUS and will: 

  • Maintain knowledge of applicable research and literature
  • Create Study design/plan for organ chip experiments

You are RELENTLESS and will: 

  • Deliver in-depth scientific consulting for Emulate customers and prospects in the pharmaceutical, industrial, government, and academic sectors on all aspects of the Human Emulation System to enable successful adoption of the technology
  • Provide input for training programs, protocol development, and customer support processes

You are ACCOUNTABLE and will: 

  • Develop technical presentations based on individual customer need and may facilitate a pre-sales evaluation
  • Provide customer-specific engaging scientific presentations and technical guidance to Emulate customers before, during, and after installation of our Human Emulation System
  • Provide hands on lab training on the Human Emulation System, guidance on study design and data analysis, and experimental troubleshooting across a variety of organ-model and application platforms
  • Lead onsite customer training and provide post-training support
  • Deliver scientific presentations to current and future customers and conferences

You are HUMAN and will: 

  • Enhance the customer experience by maintaining a customer-centric approach to your work
  • Provide technical and process guidance and mentorship to members of the Scientific Liaison team, as needed

You are ONE and will: 

  • Work hand in hand with the geographic region Business Development Executive to develop strategic approaches to win customer business and ensure best product fit for optimal customer success
  • Partner with the Commercial Team to engage both existing and new customers, including identifying and qualifying customer needs and providing market and application feedback
  • Be the voice of customer feedback to internal teams for new product and application development and process improvements

Desired Skills:

  • MSc or PhD in cellular biology, pharmaceutical sciences, biomedical engineering, or similar field; post-graduate experience
  • Experience working with Microphysiological systems and a strong background in Molecular/Cell Biology
  • Significant demonstrable experience with mammalian cell culture required, preferably with experience in optimization or complex systems (organ-models, 3D culture, etc.)
  • Customer-centric and customer facing experience in life science industry setting
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills required – written, oral, and interpersonal
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong initiative and dedication to high quality work
  • 50-60% travel may be required
  • Ability to successfully interface with senior management (within and external to company)
