Field Engineer - Robotics (Graduate/Intern)
Who are we?
Our team is the first in the world to use autonomous vehicles on public roads using end-to-end deep learning, computer vision and reinforcement learning. Leveraging our multi-national world-class research and engineering teams, we're focusing on using less data to learn more intelligent algorithms to bring autonomy for everyone, everywhere.
Where you’ll have an impact
We’re looking for bold, talented and creative people to join our journey in developing next-generation autonomous vehicles.
As a Field Engineer, you’ll be responsible for maximising the uptime of our autonomous vehicle fleet. You’ll work closely with software developers, production engineers and operations teams to identify, debug and resolve issues across our autonomous vehicle fleet. We’re looking for people who are hands-on and enjoy solving problems collaboratively with others.
Specifically, you will:
- Work between the Operations, Research and Software teams at Wayve.
- Be the first technical point of contact for our Safety Drivers, helping them resolve issues, escalate incidents, and generally help keep the operational hours of our fleet high.
- Work with Software Engineers to identify root causes of the issue and help get things resolved when possible.
- Help deploy and monitor new vehicles for Wayve’s fleet in preparation for our commercial trials.
- Undertake your own development projects to improve reliability, process and how we track progress through key metrics.
What you’ll bring to Wayve
Essential:
- Lives and breathes scale, reliability and production excellence.
- Passionate about robotics and distributed systems in a collaborative environment.
- Proficient in at least one programming language.
- Experience with networking concepts, operating Linux or Unix systems with in depth practical knowledge.
- Knowledge of computing fundamentals - what makes code fast, secure and reliable.
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
Desirable:
- Ability to learn new languages such as required, e.g. Python, C/C+, or Rust etc.
- Track record of promoting engineering and infrastructure best practices and delivering high quality projects and code.
- Experience in a robotics, automotive, AR/VR or related industry.
- ML experience is a plus but not a requirement for this role.
What we offer you
- Attractive compensation with salary and equity.
- Immersion in a team of world-class researchers, engineers and entrepreneurs.
- A unique position to shape the future of autonomous driving and tackle the biggest challenge of our time.
- Bespoke learning and development opportunities.
- Relocation support with visa sponsorship.
- Flexible working hours - we trust you to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team.
- Private onsite chef, in-house bar, lots of socials, and more!
