Theo Reads is hiring a

Full-Stack Software Engineer

Austin, United States

Job Title
Full-Stack Software Engineer (Co-founder/CTO or Founding Tech Lead)

Company Overview
73 million women, non-binary individuals, and men read romance and erotica in the United States. The romance and erotica market stands at $2.6 billion, with a remarkable 40% annual growth. Most of these stories are online and largely fueled by self-publishing authors. This growth is rooted in increasingly more women and LGBTQs “owning” their sexual health and wellness.

Theo is a groundbreaking women’s wellness marketplace where readers discover great romance and erotica curated by trope and kink, and authors get self-publishing tools to write compelling short stories (“shorts”). Our vision is to champion women’s wellness and health equity by breaking the stigma of female eroticism.

Our core values include:
  • Respect for all: We foster a culture of respect that extends to every individual, valuing diverse perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Empowerment and choice: We champion the agency of individuals to make choices that align with their values and aspirations.
  • Celebration of identity and preferences: We actively celebrate the rich tapestry of identities and preferences within our community. Embracing diversity in all its forms, we create a space where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
Theo has tremendous early support from authors in the genre, including several bestselling authors.

Position
Theo is in the prototype stage and is being launched by seasoned operators in Strategy, Marketing, and Design. We’ve worked at marquee brands and Fortune 100 companies such as American Express, Walmart, Saks Fifth Avenue, McKinsey, and Gartner. And we’ve helped more than 14 startups grow.

Next, we’re looking for a full-stack CTO and Co-founder or a Founding Full-Stack Software Engineer with the appetite to build from scratch and delve deep into multiple AI use cases. Note that this role is equity-based only for now, converting to cash compensation after launch.
