Business Development Associate

Workstate, a growing technology consultancy headquartered in Columbus, OH seeks an outbound/business development specialist experienced in selling professional services to IT Services buyers.

Your primary role is to help drive growth through the identification and acquisition of new business for our core service offerings: Workstate’s industry defining EAS (Enterprise Architecture Advisory Services), Team Spark (Elastic, on-demand development teams), Application Portfolio Management Services (such as legacy system and application modernization), and, finally, for new lines of business like Salesforce, Power BI, and co-selling platform partnerships.

You will work for Workstate’s executive management team in a close-knit environment that promotes quality, integrity, personal development, and a healthy work-life fit. The ideal candidate will be interested in growing into an executive leadership position.

This position is with our Columbus, OH office. We are located across from the North Market and close to Short North and Downtown / Arena District lunch and entertainment options.

Competitive OTE greater than 140K, uncapped, or commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • Must have significant experience closing a mix of deals between 25K to 750K
  • Sales closed must have been been primarily IT professional services and not product deals.
  • At least one year within the Columbus market, and have familiarity with selling in the Midwest for at least 5 years.
  • Cannot have changed jobs more than 2 times in the past 5 years.
  • Excellent communication and sharing skills - both written and oral.
  • Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Honest and professional in all aspects of doing business.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs as well as Microsoft Office, and other industry tools
  • Experience and comfort selling across multiple custom software development (or related) domains. Examples include but are not limited to: Agile Development, Web Development, Mobile Development, Custom Application Development, QA and Testing Services, Custom System Integrations, Data Migrations, etc.

  • A fan of Slack and modern collaboration tools.
  • Experience co-selling with platform partners/vendors.
  • Experience with Microsoft, AWS, or Digital Experience Platforms and their partnership programs.
  • A lifelong learner of sales and business development theory, a lover of process, and a desire to constantly improve offerings and methodologies.
