About the role

As Head of Data Science you will be responsible for using data and data science to provide MarketFinance with a competitive advantage. You will build and lead a team of world-class data scientists, acting as a role model and providing technical guidance across all areas of modelling and analytics.

One of the areas of ownership will be the credit risk and pricing models. Alongside the monitoring and optimisation of the existing suite of models, you will use your expertise to introduce new data sources and models to further improve decision automation.

You will own the data roadmap - both the identification of problems and solutions, and also the delivery of the roadmap. At the same time, you are expected to be hands-on with the data science work.

Requirements

You will have the following skills and attributes:

• Credit risk. Extensive experience of using modelling and analytics to improve credit decisioning.
• Modelling. Expertise in binary classification modelling / credit scorecard modelling, using for example Random Forest, Gradient Boosting, and Logistic Regression.
• Statistics. A demonstrable understanding of Statistics, backed by core principles gained in a quantitative degree like Maths or similar.
• Data science toolkit. Python or R for modelling/analytics; SQL, Excel for BI; experience productionising models.
• Business impact. You can design a data roadmap that is aligned with the business strategy and immediate needs, and own the delivery of this roadmap.
• Great communicator. You are able to tailor your message to the audience to get stakeholders on board and comfortable presenting to senior stakeholders.
