Head of External Engagement

The Company: LinkUK is the company bringing revolutionary technology to the streets of London. Our product, Link, brings the fastest wifi on the planet, calls, wayfinding, phone charging and a bevy of other services for free to the UK’s residents and visitors. LinkUK is a joint venture between Intersection and Primesight. 

The Role: Our Head of External Engagement will be responsible for making LinkUK’s revolutionary technology a part of the fabric of the UK’s cities and communities. You will lead Link’s public image, and ensure local communities, business associations, and other stakeholders are informed, engaged, and supportive of ongoing product deployment. You will lead the team in addressing stakeholder concerns and issues. You will also actively encourage adoption of service among stakeholder groups and form community partnerships that contribute to engagement with the technology and/or ad sales. You will report to and work closely with LinkUK GM Matt Bird.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with senior colleagues and leaders across the Joint Venture to plan creative and innovative outreach strategies and campaigns, building on internal insight, that support the delivery and engagement  of our exciting new startup
  • Direct management of public relations, marketing, and external stakeholder engagement work streams for LinkUK.
  • Managing of LinkUK communications strategies, including interacting with media, social media in coordination with project partners and Intersection’s Communications Director
  • Managing and developing positive, lasting government, industry, and community relationships to ensure long term partnership
  • Representing company in front of political, business, industry and community constituents and act as spokesperson on behalf of the company
  • Managing key consultant relationships and ensuring performance standards are met
  • Managing key partner relationships and work streams and ensuring satisfaction and fulfilment of our obligations
  • Working with, and reporting to, JV, parent company, and partner leadership to meet company objectives

Desired Skills:

  • A developed network in London
  • Demonstrable experience of leading internal communications and engagement within a multi-partner organisation with strong attention to detail
  • Experience in advising board level colleagues on internal communications
  • Expertise in local U.K. government is required, familiarity with planning processes is a plus
  • Ability to operate creatively in an environment of change and ambiguity, and of making effective use of digital tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal  communication skills and experience in public speaking
  • An entrepreneurial, start-up mentality
  • Familiarity with the UK tech sector
  • Experience in marketing and/or community organizing and activation
  • Extremely strong work ethic, ability to lead and operate independently, and a desire to make a difference
  • Legal entitlement to work in the UK
