Who are Metapack?

We are a tech company that works with a lot of the world’s biggest ecommerce players to integrate them with over 450 carriers around the world to make delivery easy. We are a multi-tenant SaaS platform. We give them the platform to help consumers decide their delivery preference and track the parcel’s progress whilst also providing the retailer with intelligent smart decisions about how to send the parcel – all underpinned with lots of data. We work with well-known global retailers and major brands such as ASOS, Adidas, Burberry, John Lewis, Boohoo, eBay, and Zalando. In fact, we work with so many retailers and carriers it’s highly likely that you’ve interacted with us at some point when ordering goods online!

In August 2018, we were acquired by Fortune 100’s 2^nd fastest growing company, stamps.com. We have super ambitious and exciting plans all centred around our tech. Metapack will play a role in shipping around 600 million parcels in 2018 and with the wider stamps.com family the number rises to 2.5bn parcels. Metapack has been growing at 40% year on year over the last 5 years and continues to grow at a rapid rate.

Why would I want to be the Head of Postal and Government Relations at Metapack?

The Head of Postal and Government relations is a newly created role within Metapack, it will see you work with Stamps.com (SDC) Business Units – Metapack, ShipStation, Endicia, Stamps.com – to help form, coordinate, influence, manage relations and execute business strategies and programs with Royal Mail, postal global government entities and national associations.

Internally you will work closely with corporate and business unit’s business development, carrier relations, product development, marketing and sales teams.

What would I be doing?

• Managing all day to day postal and government relations
• Taking a leading role in managing all aspects of the relationship with Royal Mail and advocate on behalf of SDC and its goals.
• Fully understanding Royal Mail’s businesses, objectives, corporate structure and all and any opportunity for business growth for or potential business risk to SDC. Work proactively to seek any growth and mitigate any risks. 
• Acting as a liaison with government agencies to support Stamps.com’s global expansion and relationship with Royal Mail to advance the corporate strategies and goals
• Establishing strong ties with government agency executives
• Representing the Stamps.com family of brands with agencies, trade groups, commissions, and regulation setting entities
• Taking a proactive role in the rule setting processes of the appropriate regulatory agencies
• Creating a history of formal positions on key issues facing the SDC brands
• Identifying key stakeholders that impact SDC’s business initiatives and revenue and lobby on key issues with them and educate their staff
• Expanding partnership opportunities within government agencies and other organizations that interact with the government
• Leveraging Trade groups and associations and labor/management associations
• Identifying government opportunities that can support the SDC strategy
• Assisting in global government relations strategy
• Assisting in sales and proposal activities with government entities
• Other duties as assigned

What key skills and experience do I need?

• Bachelor’s or Masters degree from an accredited college or university
• 7+ years in government relations
• Proven ability to work with government entities and associations
• Proven ability to interact with legislators (parliament, oversight commissions etc)
• 7+ years of Product Management, Business Development or sales experience
• Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Proven ability to negotiate contracts
• Excellent interpersonal and cultural skills to effectively and professionally work with officials, coworkers, partners, vendors, and customers domestically and internationally
• Must be within easy commute distance of Royal Mail Headquarters and Metapack offices
