The role: Head of International Expansion  

At MessageBird, we’re growing — fast. Since day one, we have been a global company with customers, suppliers and Birds operating all over the world, across regions and time zones. As we continue to rapidly scale our international footprint, we’re looking for a Head of International Expansion to lead the way. We need passion, energy and leadership as we grow into new territories — are you the person who can help us get there?

In this newly-created role, you’ll work closely with our commercial, operations, legal and finance teams to identify business opportunities in new countries, and set the foundation to make them successful. From determining the right legal, financial and taxation set-up through to creating a global Expansion Playbook, you’ll have the opportunity to shape the entire function, team and space. 

Are you ready?

What you’ll do

  • Create and implement actionable strategies and business cases to launch MessageBird into new markets worldwide. 
  • Connect the dots between sales, operations, legal, marketing and finance, to help us expand our commercial and operational footprints.
  • Establish legal entities within the MessageBird global framework, plus optimize for cost-efficiency, and take into account all local regulatory requirements.
  • Assess and understand local rules and regulations to enable MessageBird to sell, procure, build partnerships and hire worldwide, including developing appropriate governance in new countries and regions.
  • Maintain external relationships with local tax authorities, government bodies and financial institutions. 
  • Build and lead the International Expansion team, providing guidance, support, growth opportunities, and bring on new additions to ensure the continued scale of the company. 
  • Maintain our global legal entities by taking care of local filings, registrations and other compliance requirements. 

What you’ll bring

  • Minimum 10+ years of experience in business operations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and move fast to execute, working across multiple teams and timezones. 
  • Proven ability to successfully navigate diverse and complicated global environments in terms of culture, language, and local operations. 
  • Experience setting up scalable processes from scratch with a very detailed perspective.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Full (professional proficiency) in English, both verbally and written
