Head of Performance Marketing

As the Head of Performance Marketing at Gusto, you will increase our brand awareness and acquire customers with innovative campaigns online and offline. You will lead a team of quantitative, first-principles thinkers that set the bar for customer acquisition in SaaS marketing, ultimately helping Gusto reach millions of small businesses.

We are looking for a creative and analytical leader in customer acquisition to join our performance marketing team. Our performance marketing team leads the strategy and execution of paid customer acquisition. This includes a scalable, cross channel approach which is geared towards driving efficiency for campaigns, while working toward building an end-to-end multi-touch attribution model.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Build, mentor and lead a team of highly skilled acquisition experts that push the envelope with every campaign
  • Help Gusto reach millions of small businesses by building scalable multi-touch campaigns that span online and offline channels -- including radio, podcasts, events, out-of-home, content syndication, and online ads 
  • Collaborate with our data and operations team to optimize campaigns based on ROI and real-time performance
  • Ensure leads convert to customers through well-crafted nurture campaigns and a close partnership with sales
  • Work with our design, content and product marketing teams to launch brand awareness advertising campaigns that target users earlier in the buying cycle
  • Launch new lead-gen programs for Gusto such as new affiliate or partner channels 

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • 10-15 years of acquisition marketing experience, with a minimum of 4 years in an online marketing leadership role
  • Experience building and scaling a large acquisition program that targets customers at all stages of the funnel
  • Uses customer insights and a deep understanding of human psychology to develop creative acquisition tactics 
  • A thoughtful innovator that can build new approaches by drawing on first principles
  • Fluency in acquisition metrics and able to orchestrate and evaluate large campaigns that span numerous channels
  • A strong communicator that can effectively report on campaign performance and lessons learned from completed experiments
  • An inspiring leader and mentor who is not afraid to jump in and build cool stuff
