MyTutor is hiring a

Head of Strategic Projects

London, United Kingdom

MyTutor is the UK’s leading online platform for one-to-one learning, and we're on a mission to empower every student with the expertise they need to reach their potential. We’re building a future where access to high-quality learning is stress-free for those who can afford it, and fully funded for those who can't.

One-to-one tuition is one of the most powerful and well-evidenced ways to improve a student’s grades, confidence and life chances. Yet it remains out of reach for many. Our handpicked network of 15,000 tutors work online with students from all backgrounds, and we’ve delivered a million lessons so far – raising results on average by one whole grade. We’re proud to have partnered with over 600 schools and have achieved a Trustpilot rating of 4.8/5.

The role in a nutshell:

My Tutor is going through a period of exponential growth both in B2C as consumer adoption of online learning accelerates at an unprecedented pace, and in B2B - partnering with schools to help pupils whose education has been disrupted by the pandemic.

As Head of Strategic Projects, you would have dual reporting - directly into the CEO for high-value strategic and organisational initiatives, and into the Managing Director of B2B to lead a cross functional-team, in anticipation of delivering a government backed national tuition programme.

You’ll be working closely with the B2B leadership team, driving the progress of critical cross-functional projects and leading on low-frequency, high-impact project work that can drive significant results across MyTutor.

What you can expect:

  • To support the B2B leadership team in developing and delivering complex projects - starting with the National Tutoring Programme.
  • To oversee process and performance improvements across B2B - including identifying and implementing KPIs for cross-functional teams - as well as building efficiencies to support the overall business growth.
  • To collaborate with the CEO and wider leadership team to identify and prioritise high-value projects.
  • To be responsible for preparing clear and logical materials (such as presentations and project plans) and tracking milestones to ensure successful project delivery.

The type of person we would love to meet:

  • Someone who has significant operating experience at a high-growth scale-up. Three-sided marketplace expertise is particularly relevant.
  • A trusted strategic partner to the leadership team, who can frame conversations, ask the right questions and challenge views.
  • An analytical and data-driven individual, who is comfortable with finding sufficient evidence to help leaders make strategic decisions.
  • An effective communicator, able to build rapport with stakeholders across the business, transmit information clearly, and influence key decision-makers.
  • A high-energy, flexible individual who can combine strategic oversight with the ability to actively support under-resourced teams when needed.
  • Someone with experience in managing cross-functional, complex projects and the ability to drive meaningful changes within a growing organisation
  • A forward-thinker who questions the status quo and has the ability to develop processes, approaches, and tools to achieve greater efficiency.
  • An inspiring leader who is sought after as a source of knowledge, advice and experience by colleagues across the organisation.

  • Helping to improve the educational outcomes of thousands of young people.
  • A work atmosphere that encourages autonomy, collaboration and creativity.
  • Training and investment in your learning with a personal L&D budget.
  • Your own laptop and hardware.
  • Competitive salary and share option package
  • Private healthcare with Bupa
  • Regular team events & socials.
  • 25 days holiday (plus public holidays).

MyTutor is committed to creating an inclusive workplace and has set up our own EDI (Equality, Diversity and Inclusion) committee who host regular events to make sure we live up to those values. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and all applicants will be considered.
