MOO set out to shake up the world of print back in 2006. And we’ve come a long way since. Today we’re a 400 + strong team (we’re thinking of getting matching jackets) who create print and digital products for companies of all sizes – from Google and AirBnB to the guy who makes those amazing prints you found at a craft fair. 
 
Our global HQ is in London, UK, while we also have premises in Dagenham. In the US, you’ll find us in Boston, MA, as well as East Providence, RI and Denver, CO.

MOO was founded on the belief that great design should be within reach of everyone. We started by disrupting the print industry, democratising access to beautiful design and high quality products. “Great design for everyone” remains our North Star today, but it needs to mean and achieve much more. MOO’s vision is to make great design more sustainable and accessible for everyone, creating long-term value for all stakeholders, from the environment we impact to the people we work with and the communities we operate in.

The Business Ops team is a fairly new team at MOO. Kate Burns joined as VP of Business Operations / General Counsel in January 2022 and is building her team over time. The team includes Legal, Procurement, Facilities, Admin - and Sustainability. The team’s mission is to preserve, protect and defend MOO’s integrity through the management of risk and the promotion of MOO’s values and good governance.

MOO is at the start of its sustainability journey and has bold ambitions across our three main areas of impact - product, people and planet which are set out in our sustainability manifesto.

To help us achieve them, we are seeking an experienced and passionate individual to join us as the Head of Sustainability. This is an exciting opportunity to build and lead the sustainability function from the ground up. Initially, the team will consist of just the VP of Business Operations / General Counsel and Head of Sustainability but there is opportunity to expand the team over time as the business grows. You will need to be accountable, show initiative, and be a great communicator with internal and external stakeholders.

This is an exciting opportunity for a mid-level to senior sustainability expert with in-house experience. You will have a high-quality understanding of sustainability practice. You will be comfortable with taking the initiative and prioritising the things that matter the most. You will be able to lead a team - either your own or cross functionally - but also willing, and technically able, to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. You will be able to see the big picture and establish systems and processes as well as understanding the important details. The successful candidate will report to Kate Burns and work closely with all teams across MOO.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver our manifesto and plan for the future.
  • Implement our current sustainability manifesto over the next two years.
  • Over time, build a sustainability strategy aligned with MOO's values and business objectives.
  • Partnership and stakeholder engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers and customers to promote our sustainability initiatives and foster a culture of responsible business at MOO.
  • Champion and provide guidance on sustainability issues that affect MOO.
  • Stay abreast of relevant regulations and industry standards, ensuring MOO remains compliant and at the forefront of best practice.
  • Measure the roll out of our sustainability manifesto.
  • In the future, establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure and report on MOO’s sustainability progress.
  • Provide regular updates to leadership, the board and external stakeholders.
  • Develop training to educate MOOsters on sustainability principles, fostering a sense of responsibility and accountability at all levels.

  • You have experience in developing and implementing sustainability strategies within a comparable industry to MOO.
  • You understand environmental regulations, certifications, and industry standards.
  • You really care about driving positive social and environmental impact.
  • You show initiative, you care about the bigger picture, you focus on outcomes and get stuff done.
  • You don’t stay in your lane, you appreciate working on new things and stepping out of your comfort zone.
  • You guide by example, you are humble about your role in the business and you see your job as supporting the company to move forward.
  • You are enthusiastic about growing teams and maintaining culture during growth, you take responsibility for your own professional development and continuous learning.

  • You are a confident decision-maker, you establish clear escalation routes and you don’t hide behind jargon.
  • You build trust by demonstrating the highest standards of performance, you show meticulous attention to detail, sound judgement and efficient subject matter expertise.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Sustainability, Business Sustainability)
