Second Nature is hiring a

Health Coach Manager

London, United Kingdom

We’re looking for an ambitious registered dietitian (HCPC) with managerial experience to join one of the most exciting health-tech startups in the UK. If you have strong critical thinking, communication, and time management skills, and feel comfortable working amongst a fast-paced environment, this is the job for you!

As a a health coach manager, you will need to be competent at using technology and happy to work at a laptop all day, managing a number of competing priorities to support us in building a high performing team of remote dietitians and nutritionists.

The company:

Obesity has become a global epidemic; in the UK, we spend £9 billion a year alone on diseases like type 2 diabetes (that’s 10% of the NHS budget). What’s shocking is most of this is preventable – through sustained lifestyle and habit change.

Enter Second Nature.

We’re here to help people take control of their health. By bringing together behavioural science, technology, and incredible people, our grand mission is to eradicate the global epidemic of chronic lifestyle diseases once and for all.

Our digital habit change programme – delivered digitally through mobile and web apps – helps people to improve their lifestyle, lose weight, and ultimately reduce their risk for conditions such as type 2 diabetes.

We’re also one of the few consumer health brands that are also actively commissioned by the NHS (for us, it’s to help people living with type 2 diabetes).

Our Stage:

We recently closed our Series A fundraising (Dec 2019). We have a team of 85 people, which will continue to expand over the coming years. You can find out more about working with us here and here.

The Role

One of the critical components of the Second Nature programme is the health coach that supports and guides our users through the lifestyle changes they need to make. All of our health coaching is delivered digitally, so there is no face-to-face interaction. This allows regular contact with users (via group chat and private chat) so we can support them every step of the way, as well as an opportunity to support a larger user base. Areas that the health coach provides support and guidance on are:

  • Nutrition
  • Exercise
  • Sleep
  • Stress
  • Mindset

Now that we are growing in size, we are looking to hire a new health coach manager to take on managing a team of remote dietitians and nutritionists, based across the UK and Europe.

You'll have your own pod of 10 health coaches to manage, supporting their delivery of the Second Nature programme as well as their professional development (1:1 meetings, performance reviews etc). For reference, we currently have 5 pods and 5 health coach managers.

Alongside managing, you'll act as a Second Nature health coach - albeit with a smaller caseload than your pod of coaches. You'll also be involved with separate project work to support the continuous improvement and growth of the health coaching team, and the business. The additional project work is often defined by you, depending where your interests lie. Examples of current side projects range from medical research, recipe development, development university and business presentations/webinars, improving CPD processes, assisting with NHS/consumer growth & marketing, and more...
