Relay Graduate School of Education (Relay) is welcoming applications for Instructional Media Teacher Consultants. Relay’s mission is to ensure that all students are taught by outstanding educators. Our vision is to build a more just world where every student has access to outstanding educators and a clear path to a fulfilling life. 

As part of our curriculum, we include videos of teachers from all over the country as models of quality classroom instruction. We are looking for excellent P-12 classroom teachers who are willing to work with us to manage the production of three video recordings of their classroom teaching that demonstrate best P-12 instructional practices and that align with Relay's curricular needs.  This footage may be captured by the teacher, an instructional coach at the school, or by one of Relay's professors.  The teachers will also submit lesson plans and student work samples associated with the recordings, participate in any requested interviews about their teaching, and ensure that Relay's media releases are signed for every student that appears on camera.

  • Manage the production of three video recordings of your teaching that highlight best P-12 instructional practices and that align with Relay's curricular needs  
  • Submit lesson plans and student work samples associated with each instructional recording 
  • Complete all interview requests for each instructional lesson (in person or zoom)
  • Ensure FERPA and related media release compliance by administering necessary releases for all involved students.


First and foremost, the Instructional Media Teacher Consultant, Social Studies must share the Relay community’s commitment to working together to improve student growth and achievement through phenomenal teacher preparation grounded in diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. This includes providing teacher preparation programs that set novice teachers up to succeed in the classroom from day one; leadership programs that train new and veteran school and district leaders to best serve their school communities; and teacher-facing professional education that provides ongoing learning to educators. Additionally, for this position we’re looking for candidates that possess a combination of the following skills:

  • Have 3+ years of teaching experience 
  • Will teach middle or high school social studies (ie. world history, US history, economics, government, geography, etc.) in the 2023-2024 school year
  • Use inquiry learning 
  • Use historical thinking and reading skills (sourcing, contextualization, corroboration, close read) with primary and secondary source historical documents 
  • Lead a positive, rigorous, culturally responsive classroom
  • Are authorized to work in the United States
