IT Support Engineer

Based in London, this position will report to the IT Support Manager. The full-time IT Support Engineer will work within the IT Support team, which will provide support for desktop devices, hosted services, SaaS services, office networks, and customers’ managed systems. The IT Support team will provide services to Zaizi staff working in London and remotely across the UK. This is a multi-faceted role for anyone interested in gaining both broad and in-depth technical experience in a UK public sector consultancy. This position requires the ability to work out of the London Hammersmith office five days a week.


Key Responsibilities

The job duties listed below are not all inclusive of what the IT Support Engineer may be responsible for. Other duties may be assigned to assist with achieving certain goals, meeting expectations, and supporting business needs.

You will bring skills and experience to a team that will collectively provide the following:

  • Manage the IT helpdesk ticketing system (Jira Service Manager), ensuring timely responses and resolutions.
  • Be part of the out-of-hours support rota for hosted systems including the Zaizi website, Atlassian suite, and some customer systems.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date runbooks of Zaizi-managed networks and systems.
  • Administer Google Workspaces, Okta, Atlassian Suite.
  • Update certificates and licences regularly.
  • Actively and accurately track hardware inventory and appropriately assess ageing requirements for all necessary equipment.
  • Onboard new team members with hardware and account creations.
  • Manage antivirus deployment, updates, and regular remote scans of all laptops (MacOS).
  • Manage local printers and related networking.
  • Manage office and other hosted VPNs.
  • Support Google video solutions for the office meeting rooms.
  • Work with the team and stakeholders to ensure security best practices and meet requirements related to security accreditation.
  • Work on initiatives related to security, upgrades, compliance, or certifications.
  • Manage end user accounts and conduct periodic verifications via OKTA portal.
  • Serve as the first point of contact to all staff members for technology support throughout the UK.
  • Manage Building Access Systems (Badge Access, Permission Scheduling).
  • Support the team in providing staff training where this becomes necessary.

Requirements


Education and Experience

Essential
  • Experience with MacOS and support especially Jamf
  • Comfortable using Linux-based tools
  • Strong customer-service orientation
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Attention to detail and proven ability to take projects to completion
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and work independently and part of a team
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to teamwork and customer service
Desirable/Beneficial
  • Associates degree in Computer Information Systems or equivalent
  • Google Workspaces
  • Okta
  • Single sign-on technologies (SSO, OAuth)
  • Automation of processes related to IT Support (especially with Okta)
  • Enterprise antivirus products (especially Sophos)
  • Cloud-based software (AWS/Azure)
  • Ability to manage multiple and changing priorities with a positive approach - ideally in an Agile environment
  • Superb ability to explain technical concepts in diverse ways to relate to the target audience
  • Experience working in a consultancy


This full-time onsite role is based upon 40.0 hours per week. Standard working will be between 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday – Friday. On-call support as well as some evening and weekend work will be required (additional compensation will apply).
