Junior Instructional Designer

The Black Tux is reinventing formal wear so people can show up at their best on the days that matter most. We design and manufacture modern rental suits and tuxedos that actually fit—made of 100% wool, ordered online, and delivered for free. 

We are looking for a Jr. Instructional Designer to utilize their expertise and creativity to develop and implement training solutions for our growing company. We are looking for someone who can innovate, move quickly, insist on the highest standards, and not be constrained by how things have been done before. You will have the ability to manage multiple concurrent and interdependent projects and experience working cross-functionally with stakeholders.

The Jr. Instructional Designer manages client and business partner relationships, designs highly effective training and performance support materials based on sound learning principles, and manages projects effectively. This involves partnering with Business Partners, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and designated leads using consulting skills to perform needs analysis, select the right delivery option(s), design the solution, and support training initiatives.

Ultimately, we’re looking for a strong addition to our team, someone with a creative eye, professional demeanor, and excellent communication & project execution skills.  

What You'll Do

  • Partner with subject matter experts, business partners, and leaders to analyze and assess training needs
  • Design, develop and implement engaging content for a variety of audiences and delivery modes with clear strategies and tactics to achieve desired learning outcomes
  • Ability to identify the best learning delivery formats for a specific set of learning goals
  • Apply advanced project management skills and methodologies to the instructional design process, including assessment, job analysis, course design, and development.
  • Design, conduct and evaluate post instruction outcomes using current learning evaluation methods.
  • Manage the review and revision cycles.
  • Implementation and reporting of measurable learning outcomes.
  • Remain abreast of learning technology directions, initiatives, and trends to provide ideas, guidance, and recommendations.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Create visuals that enhance the learning experience and facilitate learning transfer through the application of visual and instructional design principles
  • Developing effective learning experiences using a variety of learning modalities (ILT, WBT, OJT, animation, videos, etc.)
  • Facilitates, Trains, and supports learners in the virtual classroom

Who You Are

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Business, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience applying online instructional design principles, practices, and techniques to digital learning design and development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing curriculum development projects and initiatives in formal education and or corporate learning.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Experience using learning management systems
  • Development of original content, learning exercises, hands-on activities, and assessments
  • Proven track record in creativity and innovation
  • Solid understanding of adult learning principles and instructional design models (ADDIE, SAM, or AGILE)
  • Expertise in managing large-scale projects
  • Familiarity with the latest learning and development industry trends
  • Ability to facilitate collaborative and cross-functional decision-making
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Software Proficiency Required: Articulate Storyline or related authoring software experience
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
