Lead Build + Release Engineer - Core OS

Job overview:

The Core OS team develops the critical software platform that brings eero hardware products to life and supports application development. Team members work across the organization, focusing on productization of the Core OS, but also supporting hardware R&D and software feature team development. The role requires depth in software core competencies, and also an incredible breadth of interest to work on low-level kernel and driver development, core daemons and libraries, build and release tooling, and debug and test infrastructure. It presents a fantastic opportunity to have a significant impact on all aspects of the product while working to build a world-class team that embodies great design, attention to detail, technological innovation, and quality.

What you’ll do:

  • Own the build system and release process for eero’s system software and firmware groups
  • Be the guardian of quality in eero’s production code that runs on hundreds of thousands of devices in customers’ homes
  • Architect and implement a continuous integration system
  • Stay involved with Open Source community

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Obsesses over the details.
  • Possesses a solid understanding of Linux compilation, git, the GNU toolchain, Bash and Python scripting, Jenkins CI, and Debian packaging.
  • Experience standing up, configuring, and optimizing servers.
  • Drives what matters. You never lose sight of the critical path and can evangelize others to follow it.
  • Sees around corners. You are proactive, not reactive. You recognize long-range risks and know how to mitigate them. You may even be part psychic .  
  • Is curious. You get excited about things you don’t know. You ask lots of questions and go searching for answers. Geeking out is part of what makes it fun to come to work.
  • Has 3+ years of experience in software development or dev ops
  • BSCS / BSCE or equivalent.

Bonus points

  • Management or technical leadership experience in engineering or devops
  • Experience developing or supporting embedded systems or consumer products
  • You have worked with consumers of your product across an organization
