We are looking for an experienced cloud expert to lead the scoping, architecture, development, and management of an ALL.SPACE cloud solution. This green-field development will deliver cloud applications providing REST API and Web interfaces that allow ALL.SPACE to manage its global estate of satellite terminals. The delivered solution will monitor our terminals, support, and manage our customers, distribute terminal configuration and updates, and implement data-driven value-added services.

This is a hands-on role to set the initial direction, drive the development, and build a sustainable operating model for ALL.SPACE System’s cloud solution. You will work with stakeholders, internal and external, to understand the business needs and translate these into requirements. You will recognise the value in the operational data collected and develop a unified vision for the solution. You will architect and deliver cloud applications addressing compute, networking, security, storage and reliability aspects. Working within the software engineering team you will collaborate on cloud terminal integration and build our future cloud development capability.

This position will report to the Director of Software and will collaborate closely with other ALL.SPACE Engineering teams. A deep understanding of software architectures and engineering best practices across multiple languages, platforms, and applications is essential, as is being highly productive in hands-on implementation. Deep experience in cloud development and deployment is a given. Working as part of an agile team, you will bring value in the leadership, coaching and guidance of your colleagues.


Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to understand business needs
  • Determine the functional and non-functional requirements including APIs, web interfaces, data persistence and analysis
  • Translate requirements into an architecture that is functional, efficient, and cost effective
  • Design a solution that ensures appropriate quality, security, scalability, reliability, etc
  • Implement, test, and deploy cloud applications and features
  • Employ efficient automation tools for deployment, monitoring, and testing
  • Provide technical guidance and coaching to developers and engineers
  • Prepare and present reports on results and progress
  • Drive the optimisation of overall solution performance

Skills and/or Experience Needed

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Electrical, Systems, or related discipline
  • Relevant industry experience in delivering cloud applications within the Internet of Things
  • Proven experience as a lead cloud engineer and/or cloud application architect
  • Expertise in a variety of cloud platforms and programming languages
  • Excellent knowledge of cloud software design and architecture
  • Delivery of Infrastructure as Code
  • Establishing DevOps practices such as CI/CD pipelines for development and ongoing maintenance
  • Excellent understanding of networking, storage, API, and security aspects
  • Good understanding of software quality assurance principles and implementation
  • High written and oral communication skills for presentations, meetings, and reports
  • Leading member of an agile development team, driving agile practices
  • High-performance in a fast-moving startup environment
  • Capable of designing Web Interface wireframes for web developers to work from
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and Web-based UI/UX design
  • Deep knowledge of AWS


  • Familiarity with GitHub, Jira, and Confluence
  • Experience in the persistence and analysis of time-series data
  • Background in satellite communications industry
