Lead Consultant:Systems Support Engineer

Lead System Support Engineer at Thoughtworks will play a critical role in guaranteeing the operational efficiency, stability, and availability of intricate application systems. Beyond individual contributions, lead the teams to achieve operational success while enhancing proficiency in incident management and DevOps. Engage directly with clients, bringing a client-facing perspective to problem-solving. A strategic viewpoint will play a key role in formulating and delivering inventive solutions that leave a lasting impact on both the team and our clients

Job responsibilities

  • You will use your skills in incident management processes and tools, leveraging your skills in various application monitoring metrics and tooling to generate reportsand take corrective actions.
  • You will understand complex application systems and find your way through them to debug a business impacting issue
  • You will lead the planning and execution of system upgrades, migrations, and maintenance activities, minimizing downtime and disruption to operations
  • You will use continuous delivery practices to evolve, support, deliver high-quality software and value to end customers as early as possible while working in incollaborative, value-driven teams to build innovative customer experiences for our clients
  • You will follow standards and best practices to bring operational efficiencies, stability, and availability of the system
  • You will leverage your knowledge regarding the different Logging techniques(various levels) and use them for alerting, monitoring and to identify root cause ofincidents
  • You will efficiently utilize DevOps tools and practices to deploy and run software
  • You will act as a mentor for less-experienced peers through both your technical knowledge and leadership skills
  • Apply the latest technology thinking from our Technology Radar to solve client problems
  • You’re willing to be part of a need based 24x7 availability team, on rotation andyou should be able to handle multiple engagements

Job qualifications

Technical Skills

  • You have experience working on any one of the cloud platforms, AWS, Azure orGCP, also some programming experiences in any of the languages like Java, .Netetc and good understanding of a scripting language like Python, Powershell etc.
  • You have high level understanding of various architectures like monolithic, N-tier, layered, microservices, serverless etc
  • You must possess strong debugging/triaging skills to troubleshoot code effectively.
  • You have experience working with one of the Relational or non Relational databases.
  • You have the ability to ensure that the deliverables namely bug fixes, enhancements to the existing codebase are of high quality and well tested.
  • You have experience working with any of the CI/CD tools like Jenkins/GithubActions/Buildkite or Azure Pipelines
  • You have experience working with any of the application monitoring tools ( like Data Dog, Prometheus or Grafana. You understand the different metrics that gowith it and are able to generate reports and take corrective actions
  • You can conduct system performance analysis, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to enhance system efficiency.
  • You can do Predictive analysis for and come up with proactive identification of issues working with development teams.
  • Comfortability with Agile methods, such as Scrum or Kanban

  • You enjoy influencing others and always advocate for technical excellence while being open to change when needed
  • Good communication and articulation skills
  • Presence in the external tech community: you willingly share your expertise with others via speaking engagements, contributions to open source, blogs and more
  • You're resilient in ambiguous situations and can approach challenges from multiple perspectives
  • You can influence clients as and when required on various processes including incident management, support levels, scope of work etc - should come up with details that will create the justification for such changes.
  • Advocate and implement cloud best practices in the areas of resource optimization, monitoring, alerting
  • Advocates security best practices and implementation of the same
