Lead Product Manager, Platform

About the role

As a Lead Product Manager for Chime’s Platform you will help develop the strategy and execution for building the foundational accounts and money movements of Chime. All other Chime product managers, designers, and engineers will rely on your products to build and deliver their experiences. You will run the highest scale systems in the company, and uphold the highest standards for reliability and consistency in order to protect our members' access to their money. 

Our platform capabilities include card processing, our ledger of record for account balances and transactions, and our direct integrations with banking partners. These essential services power the most important financial activities that millions of Chime members undertake every day. You will ensure that we build the highest levels of trust with our members by making our platform lightning fast, available, secure, and auditable.  

The Chime platform team also identifies and integrates with new partners, transforming their legacy interfaces into easy to use APIs for hundreds of Chime engineers, product managers and designers. Your job will be to build and then constantly evolve our platform, identifying new unmet needs and developing new partnerships and integrations in order to build the lowest cost and simplest financial tools for our members. 

You’ll bring deep expertise in card processing, ACH, ledgers, bookkeeping, or building trusted developer experiences. You have experience leading high performance teams and managing huge scale. And most importantly, you thrive on building something new. 

In this role, you can expect to

  • Partner with product and engineering leadership, including our cofounder & CTO, to help set the vision, strategy and roadmaps for our core banking platform
  • Serve as product owner for our early platform investments; manage the backlog, capture requirements, and ship product incrementally in collaboration with engineering
  • Build strong relationships with Chime’s partners to align requirements and reduce velocity bottlenecks
  • Collaborate with PMs across the org and other cross-functional partners to understand their requirements, manage dependencies, and plan for their future needs
  • Communicate progress, value, and blockers to the wider business, including executive leadership

To thrive in this role, you have

  • 5+ years of product management experience
  • Technical skills, with deep experience and track record of success in building high-velocity, low-latency, high-availability services
  • The ability to be practical and are eager to collaborate/compromise to get to the best, most efficient outcome
  • Exceptional organizational skills and are metrics-oriented
  • Strong collaboration skills and are capable of managing large, complex, cross-functional projects
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally to align stakeholders on the goals and behaviors required for success
  • A Bachelor’s degree in computer science (Bonus Point!)
