NextEv is looking for a talented Lead Restraints and Safety Systems Engineer to join our team in San Jose, CA, where you'll be the shining beacon of latest technologies, design, and leadership. As a Mechanical Engineer you will be responsible for design, development, and refinement of mechanical components and sub-systems to meet quality and regulatory standards to understand customer needs. You will also collaborate with designers, research the latest technology, project management, development and design tools.
Aid all team’s prioritization by creating/managing milestone and negotiating the workload and time lines with suppliers
Lead the design and development of new Active Safety features related to collision avoidance and collision mitigation
Lead the development of system / sub-system/ component specifications, FMEAs, robustness disciplines and DVP
Lead vehicle program teams through the development of vehicle specific design specifications
Understand the performance requirements for the sensing system and establish procedures to verify performance both quantitatively and subjectively
Understand sensor system interactions in terms of vehicle dynamics to identify possible improvements and trade-offs. Identify changes needed to improve performance and meet objectives
Establish the system performance objectives and ensure system operation to meet the objectives through structured component, sub-system, and system level test methodologies
Work to establish CAE procedures to reduce dependence on vehicle level testing.
Develop and execute component and subsystem design verification plans, test methods, and development techniques.
Guides programs for the research and development of new technologies relating to mechanical engineering as appropriate, and ensures that newly created processes, designs, and/or methodologies are incorporated into applied materials, products/services, and/or disseminated to other areas as needed
Applies in-depth understanding of how discipline integrates within the leadership of a team and suppliers.
Knowledge with design for Six Sigma, DFMEA and PFMEA
Manage your team projects, mentor, inspire, and guide suppliers
Required Skills and Qualifications
BS in EE, ME, Aerospace, or Controls Engineering or closely related– min 5 Years of Experience
Outstanding design, packaging and 3D modeling skills - CATIA
Passion for electric vehicles and energy efficiency
Demonstrable motivation and ability to solve difficult design problems with tight timing constraints
Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
Able and willing to travel domestically and/or internationally.
Demonstrable motivation and ability to solve novel, difficult design problems with tight timing constraints
Must be authorized to work legally in the United States.
Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering specialized in automotive engineering, advanced composite technologies, mechanisms, machineries and/or manufacturing.
Previous planning and program management experience.
