Lead Software Engineer – Messaging

Stitch Fix’s messaging infrastructure team is hiring for empathetic, curious engineers to join our growing team. This team is part of our core platform organization. Stitch Fix has a micro service oriented architecture with messaging being at the center of all data exchange. Our platform serves about 70 million messages a day. Success in this role requires an understanding of the technologies, Stitch Fix’s ecosystem as well as an in understanding the needs and challenges faced by engineers using our platform. We are a distributed team that collaborates across 3 time-zones, and we love building relationships that enable everyone to learn & ask questions.

    • Have roughly 4+ years of professional programming experience. 
    • Are comfortable programming in Ruby and/or GoLang
    • Have experience leading projects with 2-4 engineers
    • Have experience with microservice architectures
    • Have experience with RabbitMQ and/or Kafka


  • Builds scalable, reliable platform which is central to Stitch Fix’s success 
  • Empowers Stitch Fix engineering to build features our clients love and not be concerned with the underpinning platform
  • Enjoys pair-programming with our direct teammates.
  • Partners closely with other engineering teams to identify future needs and current use cases
  • Solves business problems that frequently (not always) involve writing code
  • Is responsible for the ongoing health and maintenance of the apps, services we build
  • Iterates on our agile process to help us build better software
