Job Summary:
The Manager of DevOps is responsible for the coaching, guiding, and developing of our DevOps engineering staff and ensures the success and rapid delivery of our products infrastructure/automation, as well, ensures our engineering teams increase in productivity to build and release faster.
The Manager of DevOps will support the development teams and the product owners by bringing organization, dependency management, and coordination to the aPriori organization. As a leader on the team, this role will be accountable for ensuring timely, transparent, and accurate communications about release scope and schedule.
Responsibilities:
• Define, evangelize, and maintain SRE (DevOps) best practices across aPriori products
• Identify and deliver software improvements using your expertise in software development, complexity analysis, and scalable system design
• Identify and lead opportunities to improve automation for the company; scoping and building automation for deployment, management, and visibility of our services
• Lead the development of world-class APM and observability platform that allows the entire engineering team to detect deviations in performance
• Lead a team focused on SLI development, Automation, TOIL elimination, incident response, root cause analysis, and APM instrumentation
• Define individual performance objectives and development plans and ensure alignment with organizational objectives
• Evaluate team and individual performance and make compensation recommendations
• Promote and support continuous improvement of individuals and teams
• Teach and mentor other engineers and establish strong relationships with application development customers
• Ensure system, technical, and product architectures are aligned with business objectives
• Solve complex problems that require creativity and collaboration to find the right solution for aPriori
• Enhance the developer experience using best-in-class tools to develop APIs for Infrastructure services
• Collaboratively participate with team members to identify areas for improvement and design solutions
• Guide other team members in the successful completion of technical initiatives and team objectives based on tracking of key results over time
• Provide guidance and expertise for infrastructure usage to application developers as a leader of aPriori’s Platform Engineering team
• Contribute to cloud architecture; design, development, and administration to ensure reliability and ease of use for our development teams
• Contribute to and create the definition of patterns, best practices, and strategies for continuous integration and deployment pipelines for a variety of architectures for virtual machines, containers, and serverless infrastructure
• Participate in the development of business and/or IT vision, critical success factors and operating plans
• Participate with Architects and product development teams to build reliable services
Required Skills/Abilities:
• Software engineer experience skilled in solving problems with code
• Passion for building partnerships and leading an enablement-focused team to drive engineering velocity through innovative services, collaboration, and understanding
• Ability to coach, develop, provide career guidance, and training recommendations to staff
• Strong collaboration skills to work closely with other engineering teams to ensure services/systems are highly stable and performant, meeting the expectations of our Enterprise customers and users
• Passionate about distributed systems and working with highly scalable services in a large multi-cloud environment
• Ability to manage projects from conception to successful implementation
• Excellent program management skills, ability to multitask and manage multiple projects in a cross-functional environment
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and team building skills, business judgment, and proven expertise in directing the efforts of a technical staff
• Excited about making better software and continuously improving the development, integration, and deployment processes
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline and 5-7 years’ experience
• Experience leading teams of 10+ software developers in an Agile development environment
• Demonstrated leadership of teams using modern technologies such as Terraform, Python, Jenkins, Git, and extensive AWS and or GCP experience
• Demonstrated experience leading Agile software development teams to quantifiable results
