Manager - Engineering, Product Managment

We build consumer and enterprise web and mobile applications for global clients, and have a growing practice building applications for the iOS and Android platforms. We also developed Pivotal Tracker, the project management and collaboration tool used by thousands of software developers worldwide.   

The Pivotal Labs team located in Toronto is seeking a ManagerEngineering, Product Management to join our team. As the right candidate you will be appropriately available to provide guidance and support to our Pivots, possess strong active listening skills and represent the concerns/needs of your reports. When necessary, you will work with Human Resources to stay on top of immigration and administrative issues, while working with Pivots to find effective solutions.

Pivotal and Pivot growth is essential, so you will conduct effective feedback reviews that provide career growth plans for your team members. Being involved in company initiatives and strategic projects is a place where you thrive, as your contributions will help achieve sales and headcount goals. And your understanding the impact of this role towards other Pivots is vital, as you will have access to confidential information, and have the ability to shape the careers of your reports. Responsibilities

  • Direct manager of <=10 Pivots
  • Report to Office Director / Associate Director
  • Hold regular one-on-ones with your reports
  • Regular gathering & giving feedback & praise
  • Ongoing goal-setting
  • Execute formal quarterly reviews
  • Onboard new Pivots
  • Oversee ramping-up period
  • Help make project transitions smooth
  • Help advise on allocations
  • Handle disciplinary issues & guidance periods
  • Oversee timely hours entry
  • Majority of time is still individual contributor role (as a developer, tester, product manager or designer) on internal or external projects

 Qualifications

  • 5+ year experience preferred
  • Consulting background required
  • University Degree: Relevant to Discipline
