Department summary:

All of OnDeck runs on Big Data and the Manager of Model Risk team in the Risk Organization will lead a team of 3 talented team members to ensure that all of the cool models built using the latest and cutting edge tools and methodology are doing what we intend that they do.

Join our team of crack data scientists, model developers, and credit risk professionals as we work to understand small businesses better than any other lender. If you like to think deeply, engage with other smart people who will push you to ask and answer out-of-box questions, and have intellectual/technical depth in models and modeling techniques, you will thrive in this role.

In this role, you will:

  • Bring your thinking, modeling expertise, and ideas to advance our company’s values, unique culture, and vision for the future. We are a company run on data and models thus have models of wide variety in uses and specification and you will bring versatility and expertise to assess models outside of the traditional methods
  • Manage a talented team to run an agile, robust, and creative approach to model risk and validation.
  • Recommend and report on the health of the models and the status of real-time data to the leadership team and the Credit Committee

Qualifications for success: 

  • You have 3-5 years of experience in credit risk management focusing on models and model validation
  • You have strong people management skills
  • You have experience using SQL and R or Python (or similar scripting language)
  • You possess a strong technical background with an ability to think through conceptual soundness to innovative and out-of-box modeling approaches
  • You have the ability to work well with a diverse group of people across different functions
  • You have strong communication and data visualization skills; comfort communicating complex analyses to a variety of audiences in English without resorting to code
  • You have an undergraduate degree in an analytical field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering or similar. Master’s degree a plus
