The Role
Reporting the Mechanical Engineering Lead, as a Mechanical Engineer on the robot hardware team, you will design and support robotics platforms for Attabotics’ next-generation automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS). Your work will focus on increasing the reliability and operational stability of the Attabot™ robotic platform. In addition to individual contributions to the design, you will also support the team through design review, documentation, and process improvement. Experience in automotive, medical equipment, consumer electronics, or similar high volume high reliability industries is a major plus. Who You Are

  • Motivated engineer with a track record of taking ownership of complex tasks from start to finish, excited about all aspects of mechanical design
  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Applied Physics or related field. Licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-In-Training with APEGA (other backgrounds may be considered for a Mechanical Specialist role)
  • 3 to 5 years of related experience in an engineering design, systems integration, or sustaining role
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD and PDM/PLM software for design, simulation, and documentation. Experience with Siemens NX (CAD) & Teamcenter (PDM) strongly preferred but not required
  • Practical understanding of ASME drafting standards and Geometric Dimensions and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience in component design for high volume, high reliability industries using plastics, metals, and composites. Experience with electromechanical assemblies and moving parts a major plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of control systems and mechatronic design principles
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Someone with a drive to get things done; designed, validated, documented, produced, and deployed

What We Need

  • Design and validate robotic hardware and mechanical assemblies for high reliability systems
  • Sustain and support Attabot™ hardware in the field with root cause investigation and reliability analysis
  • Resolve issues or bugs with cross-functional teams of mechanical, electrical, test, and embedded firmware engineers
  • Engineering design calculations, FMEA and tolerance analysis
  • CAD modeling, FEA simulation, and drafting in Siemens NX and Teamcenter
  • Lead and participate in design reviews, support continuous improvement of product and process
  • Write validation test plans, perform and guide testing, produce and review reports to validate design changes and new features
  • Complete and release component and assembly design and drawings
  • Coordinate engineering changes with key stakeholders in the organization.
  • Interface with suppliers, manufacturing, production, and field operations teams to take concepts and turn them into proven, reliable, and sustainable products
  • Ensure designs are compliant with regulatory and certification requirements
  • Must be able to work from the office regularly - up to four (4) days/week
