Stitch Fix is looking for a Merchandise Planning Manager to join our growing Men’s Merchandising team. This is a unique and exciting opportunity! We are looking for someone who has the requisite experience to lead the end-to-end inventory planning of multiple departments AND someone who has strategic vision and an innovative mindset to help (re)define the next generation of planning methodologies as we continue to explore new operating channels and ways to help clients find what they love. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong fundamental planning skillset along with creative and strategic problem solving, learning agility, and a high level of personal accountability. You will report directly to the Men’s Director of Planning.


  • Have a direct impact on the future of Planning and Inventory Management at Stitch Fix (and within the retail industry) by establishing new forecasting methodologies, exploring innovation in the supply chain, and growing algorithmic capabilities within Merchandising
  • Oversee the financial performance of multiple departments across our Fix-based business and emerging revenue channels (e.g. Direct Order) that are integral to Stitch Fix’s future success
  • Develop and communicate comprehensive department financial, pricing & product strategies, in partnership with counterparts in Buying & Product Development
  • Partner with Director on Pre & In-season milestones (Budget, Quarterly Targets/Plans, Monthly OTB, etc.)
  • Develop top-down targets & reconcile bottoms-up department plans to division plans and forecasts 
  • Participate in on-going and new company-wide growth initiatives as a member of the core cross-functional team; tasked with driving progress, influencing roadmap needs & resources for Men’s Merchandising, and communicating key updates and milestones to the greater Merchandising team
  • Work with Buying counterparts to establish and evolve the Planning team’s relationship with our vendor/supplier base, impacting financial accountability through margin negotiations, inventory optimization, fabric platforming, etc.
  • Work closely with team members in Data Science, Engineering and Financial Systems to improve financial infrastructure and evolve algorithmic capabilities 
  • Influence Algorithmic model methodologies, inform requirements and validate data inputs/outputs as a key business partner for experiments that impact our ways of working and understanding of the business’ health metrics
  • Drive change within the Merchandising organization by championing the adoption and integration of new systems, tools, and capabilities
  • Thrive as a leader in managing a team of 1-2 Planners and provide mentorship to other Men’s Merch team members, prioritizing development, coaching, and clear/actionable feedback
  • Recruit & evaluate talent for the Merchandising Organization as a whole, participating in interview panels and other recruiting-related activities as needed
  • Support Director and Men’s Leadership team with other projects and deliverables as needed


  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field with 8+ years of work experience in merchandise planning or corporate financial/strategic planning
  • You are an inspiring leader, with 3+ years in direct people leadership and have demonstrated your ability to cultivate your team’s strengths/develop areas of opportunity
  • You are an authentic leader, who emphasizes learning moments, promotes curiosity and maintains a responsible mindset
  • You have a deep understanding of financial forecasting, inventory management levers, and the manufacturing pipeline, helping you to operate with a high degree of financial accountability and contingency planning
  • You have experience managing a portfolio of product categories and/or operating channels and you are excited to leverage your knowledge to help build the next generation of planning methodologies
  • You are highly strategic, with the ability to understand the problem at hand and develop a structured approach to a solution-state
  • You are a utility player who can approach problems from multiple perspectives and who can learn new ways of working with eagerness and enthusiasm
  • You have and inspire a growth mindset in your partnerships, challenging the status quo, taking calculated risks, and leveraging data to inform action
  • You have worked with and/or led cross-functional teams through high impact projects with a keen ability to synthesize disparate POVs into a clear course of action
  • You have a high level of personal accountability, operating with integrity, timely follow-through, executive presence, and a proactive spirit
  • You are an effective communicator across all levels of the organization, including management and cross-functional groups 
  • You are flexible and able to multi-task under pressure amidst shifting priorities 
  • You are able to work full-time out of our San Francisco based HQ (post any pandemic-related shelter in place orders and once local and state authorities deem it safe to return to standard operating procedures)
