What does the 10x team do?

The 10x Technology Team are within the OCTO division and you will be part of a team that creates value for Ocado in the near-term as well as the long-term by working on speculative projects that push the boundaries of what can be achieved with technology. What will I be doing?

As a Mobile Robotics Engineer in the 10x Technology Team, you are responsible for working on speculative projects that involve fast prototyping and experimentation. You will be required to obtain and interpret data from various sources, and create products for internal and external consumption. As part of the team you will design and execute experiments with the collaboration of your peers, alongside sharing your knowledge and expertise with the rest of the company. In addition you will have the opportunity to disseminate complicated information and techniques to senior members of the business.

As a Mobile Robotics Engineer, part of your responsibilities will be to contribute to technical blog posts, papers, patent applications and open sourcing, so bonus points if you experience of studying academic papers from the leading international research conferences (on computer vision, natural language processing, robotics, control engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, computer science or engineering) and using the theory, practice and any related open source software associated with the academic papers in your developments of innovative systems.

We would like you to be a collaborative, entrepreneurial T-shaped person who enjoys the challenge of continuous self-improvement.

What we would like you to demonstrate the following;

  • Dynamic / Kinematic Models and Floating Base Kinematics and Dynamic Control Strategies, 
  • Optimal Control, linear quadratic regulators (LQR) and model predictive control (MPC) 
  • Simulation Environments such as PyBullet, Gazebo, Mujoco 
  • Programming - C/C++, Python 
  • Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning 
  • Real-time Control, 
  • Machine Shop Skills & Fabrication
  • Strong academic background in a degree in maths, science, computing, engineering or other similarly relevant subject

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience with machine learning 
  • Experience with ROS (Robotics)
  • Masters-level or PhD-level qualification in a relevant subject
